Complete with short, simple rhyming text and charming illustrations, this delightful picture book introduces young readers to the school day with confidence, kindness, and excitement. Review: Heartwarming stories for kids. - Llama Llama Misses Mama is such a delightful and comforting read for young children. The story beautifully captures the emotions of a little llama facing the challenges of starting school and being away from his mama for the first time. The rhymes are engaging, the illustrations are vibrant and full of expression, and the storyline is easy for kids to relate to. What I love most is the gentle way it reassures children that even when apart, their loved ones will always come back. It sparked a great conversation with my child about their own feelings, and they ask to read it again and again. This book is a must-have for any young readerโs collection, especially for kids adjusting to new routines. Five stars for its charm, relatability, and important message! Review: Best book for introducing a child to preschool - The book is about Llama llama who goes to school for the first time, and he misses mama. He holds it together for a while then starts crying. He is reminded that his "mama will come right back to you." Later, the other students win him over and he makes friends and plays together and has so much fun he almost does not notice that his mother has returned. When he sees her rushes over with a "Mama llama, you came back!", acknowledging that she did what she and the teacher promised, she came back. My two year old son just started preschool and a few weeks before the start of class I bought this book and read it to him. He doesn't talk that well yet, but he did memorize the phrases, "Miss mama", and "Mama come back to you!" When he started preschool, he cried a lot (it's his first time away from home) but when I came to pick him up he would repeat the line from the book, "Mama come back to you." I think the book really helped him prepare him for preschool (a fun place but you might feel sad that mama isn't there with you), and helped him process his fears and anxieties during the first few weeks of school. I highly recommend using this book to prepare a young child for school. On top of that, the drawings are just adorable. The faces and expressions are right on, especially Llama llama's little pout. The rhymes are well done, the story cute, and the lesson it teaches is great. Nowadays whenever my son hears a baby crying, he turns around and says, "Mama come back to you!" He thinks it is the way to soothe every baby's fears.

Llama, llama, lover!!
Perfect for Kindergarten (or anyone else for that matter๐). Easy read for teaching social/emotional skills! The book came in great quality and the price was great as well. I love Anna Dewdneyโs Llama, llama series and will be purchasing more.

Perfect for separation anxiety
I bought this book to help my daughter prepare to go to preschool. This book along with Daniel Tiger goes to school was probably the best for my daughter. My focus was to have a book that 1) helped alleviate separation anxiety, 2) show what happens at preschool & 3) is fun to read. This book hit all the marks and hereโs why: 1. Main focus is on Llama Llamaโs separation anxiety taking a toll on him at school. -itโs realistic of a childโs feelings and I think it helped my daughter relate to the character. -helped her see him progress through the story and eventually find school fun. -also, it was important to see his mom return at the end 2. Accurate preschool activities. -great for prepping my child for her first day at school and making school look fun. -goes through introducing yourself to your teacher, making new friends, reading, indoor activities, outdoor play, & lunch time 3. Well written story. -loved the rhyming flow of the book. It made it fun to read aloud. -emphasized Llamaโs emotions which I think children can relate to; feeling very sad and not wanting to play to feeling happy and having fun.

Good book
My son is getting used to his new class. To help him adjust, I bought this book. He liked it and asked me to read it again and again. I canโt say that this book fixed his unwillingness to go to preschool but at least he enjoyed the book.

Great story length and series
My so. Is 5 months and he loves the llama llama book collections. This book worked perfectly as it was my first time leaving him with grandma for the day. Such great stories and artwork he doesnโt lose any focus with the length.

Great book for back to school/daycare
Bought this book to help my daughter transition to going to daycare after being a SAHM for 3 years. The story is great and I feel has helped her. The book was shipped well and was in good condition when arrived.

Best Llama Llama book -poignant artwork and memorable lines!
This was the perfect book at the perfect time for my 3 year old who periodically experiences extreme separation issues from me in the morning at preschool. He has attended child care since infancy, but every few months, he struggles. This last round involved crying and whimpering throughout the day, especially transition times and naps. This book is about starting school, but he doesn't realize that, and just identifies with little Llama. Look at the Llama on the cover- THAT is the face my son makes plus lip quivering (or bawling)- he identifies with this book tremendously. The drawing of him waving goodbye to his Mama at the window is the scene we have every morning. The drawing of him yelling "MAMA LLAMA!! You came BACK!!" when she returns- and his crayons go flying as he races across the page to her embrace- perfect! The second half of the book is devoted to how Llama Llama moves on into his day successfully with the help of loving teachers and friends. The book acknowledges "Little Llama, it's ok to miss your Mama, but remember when the day is through, she will come right back to you!" and at the end Llama Llama realizes "He loves Mama, and he loves school too." Perfect, really.

Still Reading This
Cute story! Nice message! Dad felt a little excluded though... I like the rhyming scheme and how full this book is. Takes you through the whole day from morning to after school. Used it to help my daughter transition to daycare (aimed at school kids though, I think).
