Funny, compelling and incisive
Brilliantly funny at times and evocative, Fatima Bhutto's book is compelling non-fiction writing at its best. Bollywood fans, K-pop fans MUST read this book.

Disappointing
The book starts with an interesting promise but gets engulfed by the author's own agenda. To write about pop culture, you need to love and respect it first; instead most of the writing barely masks condescension and a complete lack of deeper understanding of the material. We need another book on this extremely important topic - preferably by someone who gets it. And is not overzealous about promoting her own views.

Thorough, candid, and amusing!
She's thorough in her expression and so so candid! The book is full of such sharp observations and all on point! Even though it feels like a long monologue at times and could have been categorised in themes or titles to guide us through better - the book is a must read, for all of us are nothing but a product of this society, of what we watch and listen..Couldn't have been told better, couldn't have been written better! The text is something you just don't read but study. It's convincing, full of life and humour and amusing to the last bit.
