These pens are great, though they need to update the photo
These pens are great, though they need to update the photo, since it doesn't quite match. However, I didn't get these pens because they look cool. I got them because they write and draw well without gumming up blobs of ink or skipping, etc. I'm an industrial designer, so I write with block lettering (lots of short strokes) and not cursive, and most ball-point pens don't deliver consistent ink to the page with this type of writing. Most ball-point pens also tend to gather up blobs of ink when drawing longer lines (as with sketching) and will often dump ink blobs on the page unexpectedly. These pens write and draw very smoothly, and are currently my favorite ball-point pens.

My Favorite Pens with a concern
I was overjoyed to find Amazon carries these pens. They are so hard to find and I’ve used them for years. I used to buy them at Staples. But the ink is not that strong - peters out - so I don’t know if they’ve been sitting on the shelf for years or what. I’m not sure what the problem is.

A ball point pen above the rest.
They hold very nicely between one's fingers. I love the color and how smoothly it glides on the paper. When I use this Paper Mate pen I find myself prying it out of my friends' hands who keep borrowing it and not returning it.It is a cut above the rest. And it last quite a long time.

Excellent Pen
Paper Mate Flexgrip Elite Retractable Medium Point Ballpoint Pens, 12 Blue Ink Pens (85581)This is a great pen. My only suggestion is that Paper Mate put more ink in the pen so it lasts longer. If the ink lasted longer, I would have given it 5 stars.

love these pens
I have been using these for a few years and always seem to need more so I was glad to find a box of these for a good price. These are comfortable while using and they work well. I just wish my hubby and kids would stop taking them because they are the only ones i prefer to use.

Less than a third of the ink now
Retired, I write several hours every day with the flex grip elite medium blue retractable pen manufactured by paper mate … I usually buy two boxes at a time. Because I wrote code for nearly thirty years I tend to keep records of time engaged, sheets “implemented” and the number of pages inked per pen. On February 5, my paper mate exhausted itself after 107 sheets. Prior to that I had extents of 23-113, 113-204. So on average I found I could expect 90-100 sheets per pen. Then, with recent boxes, everything went to hell with the pens — 168-296,206-233, back in February and it’s been that way ever since. In my last 5 pens I’ve averaged filling thirty sheets, so that triples the cost of each pen, more or less.I’m sure pApermate never imagined the likes of me — bulk pens: who would ever imagine they could get caught. Shame on you pApermate. You’re not the only pen in town!
