New Orleans Funk: Original Sound of Funk 1960-75

Stop with the 180 gram vinyl!
The music is great! I just hate how a lot of newly pressed records including this one are only putting about 12 minutes per side. It makes it difficult to sit and relax or do anything else while you are listening. I feel like I constantly have to go flip this record.

Skips, pops and scratches oh my
Wow! If you like great music from New Orleans that skips and pops you might love this record! Is it used? Is it a bootleg? Probably. You can see the scratches. Thanks for re-shrink wrapping this and selling as new. Classy. Visit your local record store to avoid disappointment.

Poor quality. Skips and this is the 2nd one I bought :(
The media could not be loaded. Â I am so sad :(I really wanted this album. So when the first one skipped, I returned it and bought another. And it skips, too :(I am sad, but also mad at this clearly inferior product. I have some old records from the 70s that were not well taken care of that play better.I am returning this and will not be replacing it a second time.Boo!!

Just a vital introduction into funk that will open your ears
As compilations go this is the KING of introductions to the birth of funk and soul from its early mardi gras apparitions to the full on funk that was to rule the early part of the 1970s what NUGGETS did for psychedelia this will do for FUNK . I had this on cd for years but love it so much had to hear it on VINYL it is a shame the snazzy booklet from the CD issue is not included and its not triple gatefold just 3 12" platters jammed in one sleeve but that is the only downside, the different track order works better. Kicking of with The Explosions "mighty leg levitating" Hip Drop, sliding into Aaron Neville's "audio postcard from the ghetto" Hercules, driving in like some escaped mardi gras float is Bo Dollis and Band "with the party in a can" Handa Wanda, busting out of the speakers is The Meters "jaw dropping eye raising ear twitch'ery of" Handclapping Song. and that is just Side AThis could raise the dead and kill the living

Great music, short LPs
For some weird reason there are only 4 songs per side in this album. Every side is at least 50% empty with huge lead-out areas. I assume this is due to some HiFi voodoo trends going on, but I generally like my LPs full to the brim rather than only half-pressed.The music is great though!
