TL/DR: Best budget-friendly bread maker
I've used this bread machine weekly since May 2023, and am very pleased with it. I wanted a way to make bread that didn't have a ton of extra ingredients in it, but also in a way that I could do consistently, even with a busy schedule. This machine really fits the bill. The bread is very good - light and fluffy, but able to be sliced for sandwiches and toast. The machine is very simple to operate, and once you press "start," you walk away from it until it's done. Pros: - So simple to use. Plug in, add ingredients, press button, boom. Bread. - Recipes in the instruction book work great and taste great. - Comes with a measuring cup for liquid ingredients and a measuring spoon for dry measurements of tsp / tbsp. Cons: - The machine is "loud" when it's kneading. You can definitely hear it across the house. The kneading phase is usually 2 or 3 per bread cycle, and it lasts for anywhere from 5-10 minuets at a go. The "loudness" of the machine is subjective, and it personally doesn't bother me. But if you're looking for something that you'll forget is running, then this isn't it. - Like most bread makers, the kneading / mixing paddle at the bottom gets "stuck" in the loaf as it's baking. So getting the bread out means turning the pan upside down and shaking the loaf loose, which leaves a hole in the last 2 pieces of bread. Really not a huge problem, but worth mentioning. Nice to know: - Since you're not adding any preservatives, keep the finished product in the fridge. We've found a 2lb loaf lasts us about a week before getting moldy. - The loaves are a different size than a typical loaf of bread bought at a store. Store bought bread is usually a longer, smaller loaf, whereas there are bigger and shorter in length. - A finished loaf will usually fit in a gallon-sized ziploc bag, to keep it fresh. I'm still searching for the best solution for this. Helpful tips: - I always sift the flour when I add it to the machine - it's helped keep the finished loaf light and fluffy. - Using bread machine yeast (I got a jar of it at Walmart, but you can find it anywhere) versus the small packets makes it easier to measure out the correct amount for the recipe, because one packet of yeast will make 2.5 loaves. You can't just add a whole packet per recipe. - I use a scale to measure the flour needed for each batch, so I don't add too much flour by compacting it in a measuring cup. My favorite recipe uses 490 grams of flour, and that's way easier to keep consistent then how much I'd get using a measuring cup. Food for thought: With bread going for anywhere from $3.79-$6.19 in the store right now, getting this bread maker is an upfront expense that really pays off. Getting all the ingredients to start at Walmart will run ~$15, and each loaf costs about $1.48 make. The ingredient you'll use the most of is the bread flour. All the others - oil, salt, sugar, yeast - you'll be able to make several batches before needing to replace them.

Great Bread, Great Price!
I have zero complaints about this Bread Maker. I've used it weekly from the day it arrived, and it has performed flawlessly. ~ The quality of the loaves is consistently good. ~ The noise level of the machine is low. ~ The machine does not budge on a granite countertop. If you wish, buy a silicone mat and place the machine on that. ~ The machine is not hot to the touch. ~ It really does not take up much space on my limited countertop area. I prefer giving up the space to constantly bending down and hauling it out of the cupboard. In short, I highly recommend.

Short lifespan due to unfortunate accident but great customer service
This was an ok breadmaker. First problem was easy to resolve - I realized quickly that I needed to stop using the instructions when first loaf I tried (1.5 lb whole wheat) called for 4 tsp. of salt and turned out tasting like play-dough. After I made it and it smelled so good but so salty that I had to trash the whole loaf, I noticed that the 2 lb whole wheat called for only 1 tsp. of salt so this must have been a typo. Once I started using recipes from BreadDad.com, the bread turned out great. Other things - I only used the 1.5 lb loaf setting as the 2 lb loaf hits the top window sinks back down. Many commented on the dough hook - yes, it bakes into the end of the bread, and yes, it does take some super strength to remove the dough hook, but do it every time because the bread gets stuck underneath and it needs to be washed out. Even with the above things, I'd have given it 5 stars because the bread was good and it's very reasonably priced. Here's why it's 4 stars. After mastering BreadDad's soft whole wheat loaf, I decided to try pizza dough. Set the machine and walked away like I usually did for bread... but the kneading action made it wobble its way little by little to the edge of the counter like a washing machine with an unbalanced load. All of the sudden I heard a crash and the entire machine was on the floor, pizza dough launched across the kitchen and plastic shards all over. Even the metal oven bent with the impact of the 3 foot fall from the counter onto my hardwood floor. I guess the little rubber feet are not strong enough to hold it in place if the dough gets unbalanced inside the machine. Usually I placed it on a trivet to bake bread, but that day I wasn't using a high temp setting for baking (only kneading on the dough setting) so I set it on the countertop alone. Oh, and in addition to the smashed mess, I noticed that the dough hook no longer holds in place securely. So, if you buy it, place very carefully on your counter and keep an eye on it in case it starts running away... and there might be something to the "over time the dough hook gets loose and falls off during kneading" reviews. Many thanks to Amazon at extending the return window (which I missed by 11 days... this machine was still practically brand new when it bit the kitchen floor) so I could send this smashed up plastic back for a full return. The top of the dough that didn't stick to the floor made a delicious pizza so I'm sad I can't make it again, but I'm thinking I'll seek out a sturdier machine next time. All in all, I don't regret buying this machine and gaining my first bread making experience... but very thankful for Amazon accepting the return. Be very careful with it and it might work out ok!

A bread maker just works
My previous bread maker was broken, this Amazon Basics Bread maker pops when I searched on Amazon. Placed order, and it arrived quickly. And I tried it right way. The bread maker comes in the brown box, no fancy packaging. The instruction is also pretty simple. Seems it is straight forward to make a bread. I have followed the instruction for the "basic" bread. The result is good enough. See attached photo for result. According to instruction, it can make much more things. But I only got chance to check the basic bread. Some complains or improvements needed. 1. For some reason, the keep warm feature is enabled by default. I was wait for 10 beep sound at the end, but failed to do so. I pushed power button again to turn it off to end the bread making. 2. The window. During the bread making, it is covered by the steam. Make it impossible for me to see what is going on under the cover. And the instruction also says: do not open the cover. Anything can be done to clear the steam? See photo for the steam covered window.

Better Budgeting vs Store bought
I'm not new to bread making machines. Owned a few of the more pricey machines. Found I had to babysit them to make sure that the ingredients- even the basics were fully incorporated into the dough. They didn't last long. Basic use. They should have lived more than 2 years. The cord lengths on them left much to be desired. Too short. The machines really took up the counter space. That needs to be considered in purchasing the right bread machine to suit your needs. When not in use, where will it be stored? This Amazon Basics bread making machine has proven to be a much better. It takes less room on the counter. Storage isn't a problem. Fits under the counter, or pantry. The cord is long. That's appreciated, with limited outlets. This machine is perfect. The instruction book is written for International users. So a novice user might be put off by some of the ingredients. Milk powder/ Dry milk= Powdered milk Cake oil= Neutral oil, Vegetable,Canola, Sunflower Refined flour= Regular white flour, All purpose or Bread flour Flavoring essence= Vanilla or other extracts I would highly recommend using Amazon Resale. Saving with new or used options Same warranty. The money you will save by making your own vs store bought. Is already a game changer. Everything you could possibly need to make your own custom loaves, is much cheaper to buy on Amazon. Another thing to consider. What do you buy for convenient breads, rolls, frozen pizzas, that the grocery stores are price gouging you? They don't care. I bought this one. Best purchase I've made. Passed on the Name brands. I wanted quality, not paying for a Brand name. I received it in excellent condition. Put it to work immediately. Chose from the recipe book French bread. Medium crust setting. Let it do it's thing naturally. It kneaded the ingredients perfectly. The kneading noise? Really? My dryer is louder. It took about 3 hours. Start to finish. What came out was pure perfection. Nothing stuck to the pan after baking. A wonderful even browning on all sides. Wait to slice. I know that's the hardest part. I highly recommend this bread machine.

Excellent bread machine!
My wheat allergy returned after my acupuncturist retired, and wheat-free GF bread is expensive, difficult to find, and often needs to be toasted to be edible. I read about this bread machine in a Reddit post, and reasoned that if I made just six loaves of bread, it would pay for itself. I have a very large Williams-Sonoma machine that doesn’t have a GF function. This machine does, and many others! And it’s SMALL! So far, I have made three loaves. The first was sort of a funny shape, but delicious. The second and third were also yummy and perfectly baked. While the recipes only produce half a loaf, not a full-size one, that’s fine. I couldn’t eat a whole loaf in a week. Half a loaf is a week of sandwiches and toast. The slices are huge! No more ridiculous wee pieces of bread. I’m not making tea sandwiches in the dead of winter. I am delighted with this machine, and look forward to trying its other functions. I’d like to try mixing dough for French bread or a round loaf to bake. It couldn’t be easier to make bread in this machine. I have used both beaten and whole eggs, depending on the recipe, and the result is the same. And the smell of baking bread is just lovely.

Makes great bread has a few design flaws.
Good bread maker but this is my second one. The first one apparently vibrated so much it walked right off the counter and crashed to the floor pulling the plug out of the wall. As I just have used the new one, it is also vibrating the same and after placing it on a pad it literally ended up turning a complete 90 degrees. Now that we are aware of this we will try to put it on s thicker pad to see if that helps .Also the electric cord comes out of the right side of the machine not the back which is just seems like its in the way. not sure why it doesn’t come out the back so you’re not wrapping around the machine to get to the plug in. It makes great bread and is very easy to use and cleans up easily.

It can make an excellent loaf! Better than most out there these days.
bread machines are all pretty much garbage these days, and I have been using them for decades, including the pricy Japanese Z.... brand, which did not impress me. This Amazon Basics machine is the cheapest I have bought and works almost as good as the last decent machine I bought in the 1990's. Perfect...no, but at least it is possible to get an excellent loaf out of it. Make sure to put it on a grippy surface, or it will walk off the countertop, and keep an eye on it occasionally during operation. I didn't even try to use the chunky ingredients dispenser, that would be tempting fate. The recipe book was obviously never tested, and you need to know bread making to tweak the recipes. For instance, they have you put in enough salt to definitely kill the yeast. I can only vouch for one recipe....sort of. I have repeatable success but recipe and settings are knife edge balance. What works for me at 3500ft elevation and dry air; Settings: Menu=3, Loaf=1.5#, color=light. I use a modified "3. Whole Wheat Bread" 1.5# recipe from the booklet with significant modifications as follows: 2 Tbs Avocado oil (softer texture), 1-1/2tsp salt, 1Tsbp brown sugar, No milk powder, yeast maybe slightly low tsp. Same water 9oz, whole wheat flour 1 cup, White flour 2 cups, I butter the paddle and post to keep that from locking together. I use the hook to gently fish the paddle out with minimal damage to the loaf. I start cutting from the top. Any variation and you are on your own. I might get brave and try the quick batch at some point as this does take about 3.5 hours for the entire machine process, but the results are worth it. A couple months and no mechanical issues. Not quiet but I have had much noisier. Bread pan is actually non-stick, unlike a recent machine by another mid-range brand that ended up being tossed in the garbage.
