Mount your stuff
Yakima stuff is great. I think I have had all of it at one time or another. Take these bars for example. I had a pair. I bought them for a vehicle years ago and then sold the vehicle. I know I didnt include the Yak rack with the vehicle, but I sure cant find those bars. Maybe they went to ebay or craiglist, but in any case they are no anywhere I can find in the garage, so Ill get some new ones. These are like other Yakima bars, but longer or maybe shorter, but I dont think Ive ever purchased longer ones than this. Their website is pretty great for telling you what length you need. I usually buy what the site says, They are round bars. They are metal. They are heavy. They are stiff. They are coated in a plastic sheath. They fit Yakima towers. They fit Yakima accessories. If you need them, you know it. Order them. You will love them.

Yak Bars
I don't like having to kind of buy everything separate here but in the end it all worked out... I have a 2014 WRX Hatchback and these bars look amazing and were fairly easy to put on if you know what you're doing a little but some. Once I hit about 45+mph is when I start to get the weird wind noise but it's not HORRIBLE if you crank your tunes up enough. Overall they are a really good set of bars and Yakima is the way to go imo.

Sturdy, adaptable, universal, and longlasting
I've been using Yakima rack systems for over 15 years. I've owned 10 or so vehicles over the years and always just by the different mounting kit necessary for the new vehicle. The round bars hold all my bike trays and ski rack, and a cargo box for a few years. The only thing I do not love about the round bars is the rubberized coating. The coating will show where you've had attachments mounted and will eventually degrade and crack. I suppose the other downside is the whistling in high winds which seems to be worse with a round bar as opposed to a square bar or oval aero bar. The fairing helps, but I don't really like the large fairing which increases the frontal area of the car and reduces fuel economy. Some claim it improves economy, but this makes absolutely no sense whatseover.

Exactly what I wanted!
I've had a few Yakima products in the past and these are as good as the previous ones. Yes, they are just bars, but the quality and strength are still there. I have these installed on the bed of my truck with Yakima BedRock Multi-Sport Truck Bed Rack System and it works well. Yes they did not come with end caps, but the Yakima Bed Rack System I bought did include them. Not sure why they don't include them when you buy the bars though, but check to see if the rack system (I assume your going to get also) does include them. I use them to hold 4 bikes when we go camping. They flex a bit with the 4 bikes, but I'd rather have that to absorb the shock of my trucks stiff suspension rather than beat them up and destroy the bike carriers. I think of it like a shock absorber for the bikes. After using them for a while, I'd buy them again definitely.

Exactly as advertised. I have some older Yakima clamps, with older, shorter bars as well - the new bars worked just fine with the old clamps, though the new bars are a fraction larger (the old end caps don't fit the new bars - so I'll be getting new end caps also). Being able to put 4X8 sheets on the roof racks is great!

If you're looking for 1 1/8" OD plastic coated steel bars that are really wide, these are your guys. These are the Yakima bars you need if you want to carry 2 canoes without having to lean one up against the other. Of course the first thing I did was drill a hole through each end and stick in an eye-bolt (seems like that would be something Yakima could figure out and sell a $75 part for). You could also carry about 30 bikes if you wanted to and had the necessary carriers, or a California King mattress, just about anything else. Mind you don't brain yourself, as that's counterproductive, since these will stick out way past the edge of any reasonable sized car.
