It works great, and it was far less messy than I expected!
Prior to buying this product, I just occasionally used an aerosol can that was supposed to be a degreaser/lubricant combined. It, along with some rags, did a decent job on the chain, but I never had any tool to clean the sprocket. After reading the reviews on this product, I was impressed and decided to give it a try. Here are my impressions: The instructions were very easy to follow. I don't have a bike stand, so I leaned the handlebar of the bike up against a wall, inserted the chain into the device and moved the pedal backwards to degrease it. (I soon discovered that the bike wanted to move backwards, so I had someone help me hold the brake to prevent that movement. If I were doing it by myself, I would simply tie something around the brake control on the handlebar in order to keep it engaged.) Rather than using the supplied degreaser, I used Simple Green, which is much cheaper, and worked really well. The brush used to clean the sprockets got them cleaner than they have been in 10 years, but I did notice a few bristles from the brush got stuck in the chain. They were removed with a little effort. After degreasing everything, I emptied the contents of the plastic container, cleaned it out, and started to lubricate the chain. Overall, this method of cleaning/degreasing was not nearly as messy as my old method. That came as a total surprise to me, as I was expecting somewhat of a mess. After finishing everything, I took the bike for a test ride. I started hearing a strange noise coming from the rear wheel, but I had a hard time isolating it. After some time, I found out that problem was the Simple Green had removed the lubricant from the wheel bearings. After I re-lubed that, there was no sound at all, and everything ran smoothly.

Makes Chain Cleaning Easy and Effective (If a Bit Messy)
I picked up the Park Tool CG-2.4 cleaning kit to finally give my bike chain and drivetrain a proper deep clean, and it definitely does the job. The chain scrubber tool is easy to snap on and run through, and you can actually see the gunk coming off as you spin the pedals. The included brushes are handy too for getting into those tight spots around the cassette and derailleur. That said, it is a bit messy—you’ll want to do this somewhere you don’t mind a little splatter, and probably throw down some cardboard or rags. But the results are worth it. My chain looks noticeably cleaner and runs smoother after using this system, and it feels like it’s extending the life of my drivetrain. It’s not the cheapest option out there, but if you want a reliable kit from a trusted bike tool brand, this is a solid choice.

Great Tool
Anyone who likes to maintain their own bike absolutely needs one of these in their tool kit arsenal. Prior to using this chain cleaner, I was simply lubing my chain and wiping off any grime that had accumulated over time. Realizing that I couldn’t get my chain super clean this way, I remembered selling this cleaning kit when I worked at a bike shop way back in the day and thought I’d give it a try. I’m very impressed. Following the easy-to-use instructions, my chain was super clean within 10 minutes after use. I used this kit multiple times since my wife’s bike chain needed cleaning as well and it worked like a charm. It does take a lot of cleaning solution, however. The kit comes with a bottle of cleaning solution that should get you through 3-4 cleanings before having to purchase another bottle. Overall durability of the kit is great. It’s built well and very easy to install/uninstall. Just get ready to get a bit dirty. I wear protective gloves and my garage clothes when cleaning my bike so I’m not worries about ruining my clothes. For the value of being able to clean your own drivetrain, this kit is well worth the money. It’s takes very little time to use and even comes with a brush for cleaning your cassette (gears). Great product!

Not just a gimmick
I honestly felt like this might be unnecessary but in reality it’s super useful. Makes cleaning your chain a breeze + it’s very easy to empty out when you’re done.

Worth the penny
Really easy to use. The instructions are very simple (even though they are long). It did the job quickly with minimum mess to clean up. I wore gloved and they did not tear obviously. Absolutely worth the money. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a chain lubricant. You have to get that separately, but it is necessary post clean up. My chain was rusty and very dirty. I had not used my bike in months and it was outside all winter, so really rough condition with rain and snow. This worked well for me.

Easy to use great results
I don't have s bike stand so I typically just flip the bike to clean it. Got caught in the rain today so really wanted to clean and lube. Flipped it, snapped the thing on ran it thru with the solution and Dawn with some warm water and it got sparkling clean!! Wiped the chain down, cleaned rest of the bike, lubed it up and it's sounding better than ever on the sprockets! People talk about the expense if the fluid they say right on their directions you can use dish soap and water so I used the solution and a bit of Dawn and hot water for extra clean.

This tool is a must have for keeping your bike running smooth. It’s super easy to use—just clip it on, add the included degreaser, and crank your pedals. The chain comes out looking almost brand new! The brushes do a great job, and the GearClean brush is perfect for getting into tight spots. If you want fast, mess-free chain maintenance, this kit is worth every penny. Great quality, as expected from Park Tool!

I used it today for the 1st time; a 3 bike maintenance. The kit offers reasonable value; the brush/scraper is really needed to get into the cassette and derailleur, the degreaser gets you started. I watched videos, so it was pretty easy to use. My chain jumped a couple of times, but I got the hang of it pretty quick. I wouldn't say the chains were spotless afterwards, but they were significantly cleaner than before. I have never cleaned a chain before, so I guess more regular cleaning will bring things much cleaner. The unit and brushes look very robust. Just don't store the unit with the latches closed, as I've seen reports that the plastic fatigues around the latch hinge. I was worried that cleaning the unit would be hard, but I think the combination of degreaser, then washing up liquid, keeps the oil easy to clean away. That and the fact the brushes are all removeable. You just drop in a bit of washing up liquid, stick your finger in and hey presto. At first I had trouble cleaning the bottom sump, but then I removed the magnet and everything fell away. So that just goes to show that the magnet does its job. The degreaser that came with the kit lasted exactly the 3 bikes (including some for scrubbing cogs & derailleurs). So I already ordered 5l of decent value bike degreaser.
