Too Short...
Animal promised Gucci that he was done with his old life and they are now living quietly in Malibu with their son. When Animal’s former Puerto Rican mistress, Red Sonja suddenly appeared on his doorstep with a daughter he didn’t know he had, all his promises to Gucci rides the rough surf out to sea!Red Sonja is on the run! She explains to Animal and Gucci that things are not the same in PR, she and her daughter are at risk of an early death if Animal doesn’t help her kill the man who has been sent to kill them. This third installment of Animal is way too short by K’wan’s usual standards. Diehard fans are already familiar with Animal’s back story…its MEMORIBLE that’s the reason the series is a blockbuster, so…no reminding necessary. With that said… I never liked Red Sonja but I’m happy she came and pulled Animal back into what we all know is his comfort zone. I just can’t see Animal happily sitting back playing “happy little family.” They say, “A Leopard doesn’t change its spots.” Love that Ashanti is back, he, Cain and Abel brought some life into this story!Locksie.

Animal 3
I, like everyone else was anticipating this book. I commend Kwan for showing us yet another side of animal. I even liked seeing him as a father. My issue was the numerous flashbacks, they took up too much space. Since this is animal 3 I've obviously read 1&2 and ghetto bastard The reader base that's reading this book doesn't need the flashbacks. And it was too short, which is all the more reason why the flashbacks sucked. I'm not mad that animal seemed different in this book. I trust Kwan as a story teller and there is definitely a method to his madness. This book is a must because it seems like the ground work for something big. Animal's growth as a man, his new found family tie were great to read. I loved the scenes with Cain and ashanti and the conflict between them. But I feel like this could have been released as a e book. It wasn't a full novel. It felt like kwan was conflicted about giving readers another side of animal. the multiple flashbacks as scene fillers seemed to take the place of story development. Like he used them on purpose to stop himself. Anyway, it was a decent read, a must for those that enjoy the hood rat animal saga, but im ready for the book to end this saga for good.

Don't lose your touch
3/5WARNING: Please be advised. This review MAY contain spoilers.First off, let me say that I adore K'wan Foye and his work. He's my idol, and his raw material is what broke me into the world of Urban fiction. Now, while I don't particularly care for Animal's character, I do believe I have a decent understanding to the dimensions Mr. Foye brings to him. A fatherless--more or less--troubled youth that came up in an indecent fashion that molded him to be a murderous killer that he is today, or rather tries not to be due to the fact that he has two children by two women (Red & Gucci). Fatherhood isn't so easy for him, neither is being a husband, not with the demons that are constantly plucking at his being, trying to bring him back to a place he don't want to go back to. I understand...Now, with that said.. I have to say that while these ARE K'wan's creations there has been some out of character scripts written for them in Revelations. Animal and Ashanti are struggling with themselves, cool, but there's some scenes that are too... how can I say.. not them? Cliche? Like, elements that just don't belong in this book, and its >>almost<< everywhere. For the most part, K'wan leaves hints of supernatural/fantasy (EXAMPLE: vampires) influence in his crime novels; I love that, because they're not overly exaggerated. He does it relatively better than most urban writers. But here? With this whole Brotherhood of Blood business in THIS book is something I surprisingly didn't take interest in. I guess I found myself in a dull spot every time I came across a mention of the BHOB. It might have been the author's delivery, I dunno, but I won't dwell on this any longer, let's move onto the next thing.Editor: I'm not sure who edited A3:R, but they oughta do a better job next time because in most of K'wan's stories, there's HARDLY any spelling errors. If there are, they're so minor that you end up skipping right past them, but in this book I found myself hitting road bumps. It sorta cripples the material.Flashbacks: It was a headache, if I'm going to be honest with you. I felt that they were filler, and unnecessary. K'wan has a knack for bringing people up to speed with the events in his previous books and still able to progress with the story at the same time. I've read every single title he has ever released, so I don't need 1-2+ pages of rehashed scenes from Ghetto Bastard and other titles, and for people who has not done so shouldn't be reading part three to a series anyway. This book was short enough as it is, I, personally, could have done without the flashbacks. Maybe the author was going for something different. I won't bash anybody for that, but it just wasn't a good approach for whatever he was going for.Predictability: This author always know how to catch people off guard; even I, someone who is use to almost every dang cliche used in plot devices for movies/books alike. It's sad to say that this book did not put me on the edge of my seat UNTIL when I was nearing the end of the book. The death was reminiscent of (REMEMBER, THERE ARE GOING TO BE SPOILERS. DON'T READ ANY FURTHER) Tara Teller (from Sons of Anarchy) death. While hers was unexpected, Gucci's was, but I will say he delivered that well. It was satisfying because it made me believe that K'wan can remove the plot-armor off these characters and they can be subjected to death. Excellente. The action is always good. Blood is always going to flow, so that's pleasing to say the least. Cain, Able, and Ashanti are the highlights of this book (other than the death of Ms. Torres). There was great character development with them. Good job on that big homie.I just hope he goes ALL OUT on the next installment to the series, because I feel that this didn't exceed A1 or A2:O. I didn't feel in tune with this story like I usually am. It was nodworthy, and had LOL moments, but just not a book I can say that has re-read value. Would I recommend this book? Yes, because I can't find myself not supporting the author and this book may be the kind of thing people may love. Anyway, I look forward to No Shade and Hoodlum II, I CAN say I'm at the edge of my seat for those!

It's just okay!
Warning: Spoilers.I feel like this book is seriously lacking something. For something that was so anticipated...I feel let down. Not only that..We get a big "TO BE CONTINUED"..just when it started picking up a little. I don't like the fact that Animal is held up with Red Sonja. I don't care for the way she was allowed to disrespect his home. If Animal ends up sleeping with Red Sonja in whatever second half of this book..then I'm pretty much done. I think he and Gucci deserve a happy ending and that would seriously throw a monkey wrench in it. My perfect scenario would be that Red Sonja gets killed, then Gucci and Animal end up raising Celeste. Sorry K'wan but this was sort of a miss for me. I love Kallilah, Cain, and Abel. Please feed Red Sonja to the dogs!!

Hurt So Good.
I wish it were not so well written so I can really go off- and in. but no. It is just the latest example of how fantastic a writer K'wan has become.Danger, intrigue, love and war and it broke my damn heart. It is a mark of a talented writer when you can absolutely hate (hate, detest, loathe, bemoan....hate) how the story unfolds and still think it is one of the best reads you have had all year. Animal is certainly at a crossroads where all signs point to the darkest road and path he will ever walk down.I am devastated at the turn of events and not sure how I will go on in the series, however, Animal 3 was absolutely amazing- even though I fear the worst for my fav character.

How you doing K'wan
In the Revelations K’wan grabs hold of the reader’s attention with another page turning novel about Animal. This time Animal gets back into the violent street life with Red Sonja and brings Ashanti and the twins Cain and Abel with him. K’wan does a good job of introducing new bad-ass characters and taking his readers on an exciting and emotional journey. Now I cannot wait until the release of Animal 4.
