Schmetz is a German company, these are made in Germany using quality European metal. (Always support as local as possible). My Sewing Machine mechanic recommended the Schmetz brand for use in my machines years ago. Stating they’re better quality, stronger, break less and therefore chance of damage to the race is far less. I use these in both my coverlocker and my embroidery machine. I find that having a few boxes of 100, for different sizes and for different fabrics suits my needs. Furthermore, because I have always have a bulk in, I tend to change my needle more often than listening to a dull needle hit the fabric and wish I’d not run out. Finally though initially expensive, it’s far cheaper to bulk buy than it is to buy the packs of 5 with different sizes in one pack. Personally I don’t sew denims that often or jersey so having a stock of different packs with just those sizes in takes up an awful lot of room. I much prefer to buy the needles in bulk have just one box for each size /need than have lots of packaging that goes to landfill or takes up room in my sewing drawer. The packs of 5 are great for when you’re just getting started and don’t know if you’re going to continue with your skill building. But once you’re in your journey to Me Made then. I’d highly recommend buying bulk.

Ho utilizzato questi aghi Schmetz su una normale macchina da cucire domestica e fin dalle prime prove mi sono sembrati ben realizzati. Il set include varie misure, cosa molto pratica perché permette di passare da tessuti leggeri a materiali un po’ più spessi senza dover acquistare confezioni separate. Durante la cucitura scorrono bene nel tessuto e non ho avuto problemi di punti saltati o inceppamenti. La punta leggermente arrotondata aiuta a lavorare in modo abbastanza delicato anche su tessuti più morbidi o elastici, evitando di rovinarli. Un aspetto che ho apprezzato è la compatibilità: montati senza difficoltà sulla macchina e subito pronti all’uso. Anche il contenitore è utile per tenerli ordinati ed evitare di perderli. Ovviamente restano aghi “universali”, quindi per lavorazioni molto specifiche o materiali particolari probabilmente conviene usare aghi dedicati, ma per l’uso quotidiano e per la maggior parte dei tessuti comuni fanno bene il loro lavoro. Li reputo una soluzione pratica e affidabile, soprattutto per chi cuce spesso e vuole avere a disposizione diverse misure in un’unica confezione.

Für sehr dicke Materialien sollte man aber auf spezielle Varianten ausweichen. Preiswert, zuverlässig und bewährt – eine klare Kaufempfehlung.

J’ai utilisé ces aiguilles sur une machine domestique standard pour différents travaux : ourlets, petites réparations et couture de tissus moyens. Les tailles variées permettent d’adapter l’aiguille au tissu, ce qui évite les points sautés. Sur du coton fin, la 70/10 fonctionne très bien, et sur un tissu un peu plus épais, la 90/14 passe sans difficulté. Les aiguilles s’installent facilement et ne se tordent pas après plusieurs coutures. C’est un lot polyvalent, idéal pour quelqu’un qui coud de manière occasionnelle ou régulière.
