Song of Life A Collection

A Superb Collection
This excellent CD is a magnificent collection of some of Libera's finest material. "I Am the Day" is, for me, their best ever piece and it is great to hear Ben Crawley taking the solo once again. "Panis Angelicus" has been recorded by many over the years but this arrangement is simply mind blowing. The harmonies and counter melodies in the second verse really have to be heard as words cannot adequately do justice. "Gloria", based on Saint-Saens' Organ Symphony, has been a popular crowd pleaser at many Libera concerts and its inclusion on this album is really welcome. However, having said all that, it is only fair to point out that all but one of these tracks are available on previous Libera albums but do not let this put you off. For a start, it is great to have so many of their best songs all in one place. But more importantly - and the reason most of their fans will purchase this excellent collection - is the inclusion of "Song of Life", brilliantly performed by soloist Ralph Skan, who brought the house down with it at a show in Epsom a year or so ago. This number alone is worth the very reasonable price of this CD and I can heartily recommend it to all Libera fans, old and new!

Libera is for everyone and everywhere! It is a worldwide sound!
This cd shows how Libera has been great through different times, with different soloists, different combination of voices and songs, and keeps challenging itself with every collection it produces for the pleasure of us.

Libera has to be one of the best boy choirs around
Libera has to be one of the best boy choirs around. The men behind the choir must have a terrific social conscience. If you have never heard of the choir then you should google them. Keep up the good work boys.

An ultimate in relaxation
I can't speak about musical technicalities but I love the quality of the singing on this CD; it's very soothing and the songs are lovely - a mix of new (to me) and old favourites.

I bought this as a gift as I had a copy already. I listen to it during the night as it is so peaceful. I never seem to tire of it. Libera have a unique sound. The tuning seems a little out a few times and the volume of the first four pieces is different from the rest so I usually have to alter it or start listening at five or later. Otherwise the rating would have been five stars.

Great Listening
I would recommend this album to either a Libera newbie, for it has a good range of "standards". Some new works make this a considered addition to the collection. It would have been nice to have had a couple more "new works" though, then it would be five stars.

Another of their CDs that I can just listen to from beginning to end.
Once again a first rate CD from Libera. The only downside was one of my all time favourites of theirs was missing, Evening Falls.
