Avoid this company and product at all costs!!! Horrible tech support and product doesn't work!
Updated to 1 star. I'd give it zero stars if possible. The cameras simply don't change as they should from day to night settings and back which means what is viable in the image is far to bright to see in the day light and too dark to see at night. I've been on tech support a number of times and they just keep asking the same questions and the even remoted in and still couldn't fix the issue. They are not familiar with their own product and when told they would send the issue to next level support they asked for all the same information again. If you like paying over a $1000 for a product that doesn't work and sitting on tech support with folks that run you in circles this is the product for you. I bought this to replace samsung security cameras that were 8 years old and the old ones were by far better. I've not been this frustrated with a company's product or support as far as I can recall. The picture quality is less than I would expected. You can't shut off the spot lights that come on, you can't control the sensitivity of when it flips to night vision and therefore it tries to stay on color at night with even the slightest light which gives you less night visibility. I had a Samsung security system before this one and I feel like I should have just kept it.

Nice all-around surveillance camera system
I've gone back and forth a few times now between consumer-grade battery powered cameras that are simple to install, but lack sophisticated features such as the ability to be integrated within a home automation system.Compared to "just hang it somewhere and watch online", there'a a lot of work to getting cameras like these Lorex installed, but in my opinion, the end result is worthwhile. The issue most people will have is the Ethernet wiring - each camera requires an Ethernet cable for power and data, and if you don't happen to have cables already, this can take a lot of careful planning. In my case, I didn't have the necessary cabling, so most of the work was getting my home wired. After spending time deciding where I wanted the cameras, I gave a little thought to the best way to run the wiring. In my case, I wanted the DVR near my other electronics, and that meant a long run to the cameras. Instead of wiring all the cameras back to the DVR, I bought a few POE Ethernet switches...each one has 3-4 cameras connected, and then all the switches run back to the room where my DVR lives using a single high-speed backbone network.I purposely set the camera network up to be segregated from my "normal" home network, both for security and for capacity reasons...a large surveillance system generates a lot of data, and I definitely didn't want this data slowing down my existing network devices. Plus, I really don't know how secure some of the software in these systems are - last thing I want is for my cameras to be on the Internet inadvertently...my solution makes it easy to firewall the camera network off from the Internet.I'd say about 80% of the work in getting these camera installed is getting the wiring right. The cameras themselves are very good overall, although they do lack optical zoom, and any sort of PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom) to follow movement. Still, my plan has been to use these for general monitoring, but then supplement them with 1-2 high-end PTZ cameras to fill out my system. One issue I've had with other brands is that I live in a salty-air coastal climate, and that's proven to be hard on anything I place outside. Not only that, but often the camera lens will fog over with humidity, or quickly dirty as salt air deposits form on it. So far, I'm happy to say that these cameras seem to be handling the challenging climate quite well.I find the 4K picture quality to be excellent in bright light, and perhaps just average in dim lighting. The color night vision feature works, but it seems to result in slightly less detained images. The cameras have a few other features, such as two-way audio and a built-in theft-deterrent light. These all seem to work as advertised, although we find the speaker a bit underpowered.I didn't see it mentioned in the documentation, but these cameras also work with Blue Iris, and presumably other products if you don't like the Lorex DVR and it's included software. That was important to me because I use facial recognition and several other features to integrate the cameras with my home automation system, and all that is controlled by the Blue Iris software. Using BlueIris, I was able to integrate things like the security lights and audio controls with my home automation system - a feature I haven't found on the other cameras I tried.Overall, I'm happy with this setup. It gives me good coverage, doesn't cost a ton, and performs well enough to work with all the other security and monitoring tools I've been using. It takes thorough planning and a bit of install work, but in my opinion, the results are worthwhile.

Perfect home monitoring system.
I never had a home monitoring system before this one besides getting the doorbell cameras and i must say i am very impressed. To start the package came with everything advertised and came quick. Then came the instal. It’s a lot of work. Do think this is a just attach the cameras to a wall and walk away, its a lot of wiring and planning that goes into a system like this. I took the first day to plan out where and how to run all the wires. I live in a 1 story rancher and I barely have room in the craw space/attic to craw around to runt he wires so the day of planning was a lot of brainstorming on how to get these wires from one side of the house to the other. Which in the end it worked out great. Had some help from a friend but i am really happy with the end result.Wiring the system was a breeze. Took some time to play around with the angles but they are perfect now. I’m really happy with how my setup came together. The cameras themselves how a great picture, nighttime isn’t as good as day but still works just fine. I really like the motion detection and light deterrence, they work really well together. I also like the 2 way talk, i find myself talking to my family through on often.I have had this system up and running for a few months and i must say I’m really happy with how it came out. I gave it a full five stars because of how well it all works together and all the features. The only downside to this system is that there are no zoom options with the cameras and you cant remotely move them, but for home monitoring i dont see this as a huge issue. I highly recommend this system for anyone looking to keep an eye on your home.
