The base is flimsy and tips over. Any suggestion on how to add weight to the base?

As long as the “arm” is positioned properly, the base shouldn’t tip over. If you feel like you still need to add weight, you can glue a washer to the bottom side of the base.

Does this really work ?

Yes it comes in handy when you have a bottle of polish that is low, you can angle it so you can get the polish. Happy with it.

Does it fit OPI nail polish?

Yes it does. Fits all bottles. You might need to adjust the screw. Purchase two One was too tight. The other was OK but now it occasionally needs to be tighten.

Will this hold bottles smaller than the average size bottle of nail polish?

It will hold over 100 sizes of bottles. Without actually seeing the bottle hard to say. But I would lean toward yes unless it is extremely skinny or tiny
