Vishwamitra

Nice pace to the story with details
It was a great narrative and well presented. Though I knew the stories separately, reading it together as Vishwamitra’s timeline was a different experience.

Not gripping
I read a book in Marathi about Vishwamitra during my childhood. I knew the details described in this book. The book is well written, but didn't grip me. Menaka episode dragged (for me). Also, doesn't include other stories where Vishwamitra played a major role. If you don't know anything about Vishwamitra, it is worth reading.

Very nice read. I find some of the language used for conversations between characters inappropriate and borderline offensive. Other than that author has done very good job at putting scientific perspective to many ancient Hindu rituals, traditions and concepts behind them.

Too simplistic, no depth in characters....
The storyline was a bit weak and the characters were not developed with depth. A pity, for great justice could have been done to one so powerful as Vishwamitra.

Addictive Page Turner!!
Very well researched and interesting read. I came to know about Vineet through Beer Biceps videos and thoroughly enjoyed them. Vineet is a very well read author and puts forth his idea his ideas in very layman terms. Looking forward to more of his books!!

Unputdownable
Another brilliant book by Dr. Vineet Aggarwal. I love how he starts off with one generation and eventually comes to the hero of the book thus providing us a lot of information about the other characters too. My absolute favorite in this book was the part where Vishwarath 'discovers' the Gayatri Mantra. That part was so well written that I could see it all unfold in front of me. Vishwamitra is often limited to being the rishi who asked Ram to save his sacrifices, it was quite nice to delve into the background and what he was like in his younger days. The book is full of trivia which not only educates the reader but also makes it more factual than a mere fiction. Brilliant, just brilliant!

It was a delight to finally come across a book that's based on ...
What can i say about an erudite who has explored Indian history & antiquity to the core. It was a delight to finally come across a book that's based on Sanatan history & characters, that in spite of being fiction, neither corrupted them nor glorified the villains (which has become a trend among the fiction writers lately), but brought the real essence of Dharm. The book though has quite an sluggish start, but gradually (within few chapters) it catches the pace and it just gets better with every page. One has to accept the prowess of the author, by the way he came up with the logical/scientific explanations to various event we see as "chamatkaars", especially the 'upliftment of Trishanku towards heaven', that was just marvelous. And I am thankful that the author didn't try to bring any idiotic-logical, rather idiological description for the act of divine, which I am tired of seeing in mythological-fiction books where the author tries to explain the leelas and ruins it. The acceptance to the truth, the actual is what should we do instead of being hesitant of accepting our heritage, cause what's truth, will always be.Like I once quoted in one of my blogs: "divinity cannot be doubted or questioned, it is holy. One can either believe it or disown it as there is no mid-way"'Vishwamitra' is the journey of a human, who defied all odds and attained what he aspired for, that was rare to devas even. The book is a must read and I wish Vineet all the best for his future endeavors.

Well written story of a legendary man.
The first genuine tale of a mythological figure, heavily researched and told in its truest form, Vishwamitra is the tale of a man who with his sheer will power became the maharishi. This is no ordinary story but that of a king who in search of power lost everything and then through meditation achieved a god like status. Author Dr Vineet writes with flawless ease and tells some forgotten lost tales that everyone should know and takes us through a mythological journey of a lifetime. The emotions and state of mind of the characters are so beautifully written that you feel a part of the story. I absolutely loved the book.

loads of info beautifully given
Once you start the book, you cant think of any other thing till you finish it. The infirmation in the book is so much that you cant obsorb at once. Many tiny stories within. While i was reading it, i used to wake up early to read. Read other books too related to Hindu mythology but none seem to stick to my hands as these books did (Parshu-Ram and Vishwamitra). after this book, will read 'Bharath' too.Thank you Vineet Aggarwal ji for such a good book. looking forward for many books like these.
