This caps my 1858, 1860 and 1862 just fine. I have another older example. It has a two inch spring. The new one has a one inch one. That means you will need to place more caps in the new one, and refill more often.

Good item for loading

I have two Colt Blackpowder replica revolvers. An 1847 Walker and an 1861 Army. The cappers square end made it difficult to impossible for me to cap because of the lack of clearance imposed by that shape. The square piece touches the frame before the cap is above the nipple. By difficult manipulation I can get it to work sometimes, but who needs the headache? Additionally the spring steel does not hold the cap very securely so it can fall off. I ordered a round end capper from a company called TDCMFG that has a round end and looks to be of sturdier construction. I’m new to this game so still learning. I’ll hang onto this for now just in case I have some eureka moment later and I figure out it was me doing it wrong.

Perfect for its intended use. Only wish the grip end to be wider…it would make handling the capper a little easier for these old hands.
