PelikanDrawing Ink, 518 Black Fount India, 1 Ounce Bottle (221143)

Check the comments on other black inks, you always see people on there saying "Not really black, more a dark gray." That was my general reaction to black fountainpen ink, before I found this stuff: Pelikan Fount India. I kept saying: "Oh, if only there were a fountainpen ink that was as Actually Black as *India* ink." Well, this stuff is it. No shading whatsoever. No brownish halo. BLACK—solid, gorgeous black.Listen. In this apartment, I got seven bottles of B.S. and one bottle of black ink. Allow me to name names: (1) Noodler's waterproof, (2) Iroshizuku charcoal, (3) Namiki standard, (4) Quink, (5) Mont Blanc permanent, (6) Waterman intense black, (7) Levenger raven black.{Iroshizuku, Namiki, Quink, and Waterman} are more or less interchangeable. Handsome grays, all of ’em. Quink's the worst, by which I mean the palest.Mont Blanc permanent black is weird and brownish and doesn't flow well. (It's also $30/bottle.) (It *is* dark, though, I have to admit.)Noodler's puzzles me. I used to think it was good, but it's like my particular bottle became lighter over time (?). I don't know. That tireless frat boy on all the Goulet videos swears by this stuff, but I'm fairly over it. It's not black enough!Levenger is the next best, after Pelikan Fount, but doesn't *flow* as well. I guess it's just fine through a Lamy Safari <M>, but through my finicky waste-of-money Waterman Expert <M>, the Levenger won't grab the page properly. (Only Pelikan Fount India does the trick w/that thing. It's the "solution" ink for my Problem Pen.)• • • Before I press SUBMIT, I wanna acknowledge that some other reviewer here has written that Pelikan, too, is more gray than black. ["crying rivers" emoji]. Sometimes it's like I'm walking around in a dream, I swear.

Judging by other reviews, there seems to be some confusion about this ink. I will try to clear things up!First, contrary to a few other reviews, Pelikan Fount India *is* an India ink - which is to say its color comes from carbon pigment (i.e., soot or lampblack) and not dye. Traditional India ink for use with technical pens and brushes often has shellac added as a binder. When you use such an ink you are literally varnishing your paper with the ink. Fount India is formulated for use in fountain pens, and therefore *does not* contain any shellac. Fountain pen ink channels are very narrow; filling them with, essentially, glue is not a good plan.Second, Fount India *is* waterproof. It does not have the shiny sealed surface that shellac provides a traditional India ink, but once the carbon particles have bonded with your drawing surface there is no way to get them back off again without damaging it.Third, the behavior that one reviewer noted - that the ink smears when dry - is common to many heavily saturated inks (notably, the popular Noodlers inks). This behavior is regulated by ink flow of the pen - the more ink on the paper, the more unbonded carbon is left piled on top when the ink dries - and how absorbent the drawing surface is - the more ink absorbed by the paper, the less unbonded carbon is left piled on top when the ink dries. If you're trying to do watercolor wash over unbonded pigment you will need to spray your drawing surface with a sealer first, or the carbon will mix with the wash. This applies to *all* heavily saturated and/or pigmented inks. Alternatively, you can dilute the ink with distilled water. The ratio will depend, as above, on the wetness of your pen and the absorption of your drawing surface.If you want India ink for fountain pens, you don't have too many options. Besides this Pelikan Fount India, there is Platinum Carbon Black, which I find to be feathery, and which will also smear when dry on less absorbent paper. There is also Sailor Kiwa Guro which I would like to try, but have not, because it is very expensive! Judging from online reviews, I think Kiwa Guro might be the best of the 3 in terms of quality, but Pelikan Fount India is certainly the best option in terms of price : performance ratio!

Wer sich mit dem Thema etwas länger beschäftigt wird feststellen, dass lichtechte/dokumentenechte Tinten eine eigene Welt im Bereich der Schreibtinten einnehmen.Ich benutze mehrere Tinten in unterschiedlichen Füllern und bin jetzt nach einiger Zeit wieder zur Fount India zurückgekehrt.Bestätigen kann ich, dass Sie eine sehr hohe Lichtbeständigkeit aufweist (halbes Jahr am Fenster, Westseite) ohne Farbänderung. Bei der Wischbeständigkeit muss man natürlich einen Moment warten, bis die Tinte wirklich eingezogen ist.Vorsichtig sollte sein wer zu schwitzigen Händen neigt bzw. mit dem Textmarker drübergehen will, da die Tinte auch wasserlösliche Bestandteile hat, welche dann etwas verschmieren.Den Vergleich zu einer Eisen Gallus Tinte hält die Tinte definitiv stand. Im Vergleich zu einer Nano Pigment Tinte könnte einen die Wasserempfindlichkeit stören.Ich erfreue mich bei der Fount India über den künstlerischen Aspekt, da man es sich für mich etwas an die Verwendung von verdünnter Tusche anfühlt.Der Wohl wichtigste Punkt (für mich) ist, dass wenn man eine beständige Tinte haben möchte und mit dieser oft schreibt, es sehr schwer wird eine Tinte mit einem besseren Preis zu finden.

Ein schönes, gut gesättigtes und gut fließende schwarze Tinte. Die Schrift wirkt breiter als gewöhnlich und es ist mal ein Tiefes Schwarz, nicht gräulich wie bei anderen Tinten. Preis Leistung ist Top!Vorteile:- Dokumentenecht- Preis Leistung- Farbe: Schwarz ist Schwarz- Fließt gutNachteile:- Allergene lt. Excelente tinta nankin, encaixou perfeitamente ao meu trabalho, eu apenas recomendo adicionar um pouco de nankin talens para acelerar o processo de secagem, para bico de pena ainda não vi nenhum outro produto melhor no mercado brasileiro nos tempos atuais.

Ich bin absolut begeistert von dieser Tinte! Sie hat ein tiefes, sattes Schwarz, ist wirklich wasserfest und lässt sich wunderbar mit meinem Duke Kolbenfüllhalter auf Aquarellpapier bringen. Kein verkleben des Füllhalters. Je nach Auftragsdicke der Tinte kann man bereits nach kurzer Zeit mit Aquarellfarbe weiterarbeiten. Einfach perfekt für meine Bedürfnisse, habe mir gleich noch ein zweites Fässchen bestellt.

Ich werde mit der Tinte nicht warm. Hab sie bis jetzt mit einem lamy safari füller verwender. Federstärke f. Mehr als ein anthrazit bekomm ich nicht. Hab etliche papiere probiert und es bis jetzt nur auf dem clairefontain geschafft ein dunkelanthrazit zu bekommen. Alles andere waren divere graustufen und von von schwarz weit weg. Da das nun verblasst wirkt werd ich sie wohl nicht mehr verwenden. Schade.
