Q: Is the back smooth? Can i put a popsocket onto it?

It's not smooth but you can still put a popsocket on it. I've personally done it

Q: Is the measurement in drop testing height of only four inches (4") a typo?

For sure. This case has held up to more than I could as for. I am a goof and sometimes drop it when getting out of the car. Each time it has been face down and each time I have gotten away with no broken screen and surprisingly no scuffs on the case either. This case is 100% worth it.

Q: Does the edge of the case on the left and right side go above the curved screen?

The left and right sides of the case are approx. 1/16" below the surface of the screen which slightly exposes the curve edge. Is an awesome case, especially in "ROLL TIDE" red!!!
