ELECOM EX-G Ergonomic Thumb ControlTrackball Mouse Wired M-XT2URBK-G

I love this mouse. I had previously purchased the Grey trackball version and used it for years at home. Moved to a more computer oriented job and tried a track ball work provided that was too large. I have very small hands, and this elecom mouse is a perfect fit. Medium hands could also use this fine, but large hands may need a larger mouse. The shape is so natural it never causes any aches for me unless I am gaming intensely and then I got a minor amount of thumb fatigue. I did have to return the first one of this that I got bc the ball was sticking and not roasting, even after lubing the bearings with silicone spray, but this one works great out of the box and feels like a dream glide, effortless. They also shipped the replacement to me immediately before I dropped off the first one, which I really appreciated. If it doesn't work right away, don't give up on the style! A good one is the BEST trackball mouse I have ever had.

My son heard me talk about my preference for trackballs over a mouse so he wanted one to try out. He selected this one and used it for a couple of weeks before switching to a gaming mouse. I then inherited a new trackball. Happy days for me. I use this with my laptop so I don't need as much desk space as a mouse needs. I like the button placement and I love the feel of the thumb placed trackball. I have only used this with my work laptop so I have not used it for gaming. I do use it for 8-14 hours, several days per week and it has worked excellently. If you have not used a trackball, it might be good to try one if using a mouse makes your hand hurt. It does take a little time to adjust to the different movement but I think it is worth the time. This trackball is reasonably large similar to the older ones I used from another LOGIcal TEChnical manufacturer. I do not notice a significant difference in operation of the other brand trackball over this one. It is solid, works well, and has several more buttons. It is large which works well for my big mitts but wasn't comfortable for my son's smaller hands. While a great trackball for me, it might not fit smaller hands. One of my favorite features is that it is wired. There is no need for batteries but cord placement is the counterpoint.

Buy something else. They rapidly become sticky, stuttery garbage. Swapping the bearings may help for a while, but the sticking will return. No amount of cleaning will resolve it. Initial impression: These are good, affordable trackball mice, assuming you get one where the tolerances on the ball and cup are right. If one shows up and it feels sticky, gritty, or sluggish; clean it. If that doesn't solve the problem send it back and get another one. Its clear the manufacturing quality control is hit and miss. They should be buttery smooth and require little force to consistently move the ball, most are, I've ordered 5 of them, 3 are great, 2 are not and went back.

I've been using trackballs well over 2 decades and this is nicest one yet. The ball is very slick and responsive. Buttons are sensitive but not TOO sensitive. 4th and 5th buttons are in a good place where I can easily find them but they don't get in the way. Unlike so many trackballs, the scroll wheel works the way it is supposed to. You can DL a special driver to let you remap stuff like what the scroll wheel and and the tilt does. I haven't tried it yet but I can see that it would be quite handy for games. The DOWN side is that they cut corners on QC and the quality of the ruby bearings for the trackball. First one I got had a sticky ball out of the box. "Keep using it. It'll break in." "Clean the bearings with alcohol" and all sorts of advice like that had no impact. So it returned it and the next one was just perfect. I can't tell you who likely it is you'll get a lemon. But returns are easy and free on Amazon so give it a shot and return 'em until they ship you a good one. I'm guessing the majority, by far, are good out of the box. They couldn't afford it otherwise!

I love this mouse and cannot believe I haven't had one before. Initially the ball was hard to move and getting stuck, however after removing the ball and placing it back it it glided very, very smoothly. I am also very left hand dominate so I roll the ball with all of my fingers and rest my hand on it perfectly. If someone else needs it, they just move the mouse to the right. I am used to using right handed things, and am used to the set up over a left handed mouse. I know a bit strange but it works wonders for me. I am thinking about picking up a back up due to its quality and affordability. Very happy I got it!

I purchased this trackball as a wired alternative to my wireless Logitech M570. My primary reason to switch had to do with poor signal stability on the Logitech product. If the trackball was more than 3-4 feet away from the USB receiver plugged into the laptop the trackball would be sporadically unresponsive and jittery. I wanted to look for a wired Logitech option, but saw that it was not available and in the process came across ELECOM and their line of products. What attracted me to this particular model was the ergonomic design (it's not noticeably smaller, in my opinion, than M570 as others reported) and functionality given the presence of several buttons not found on the Logitech alternative. Amazon delivered the product fairly quickly and straight out of the box it has been great to use. The keys/buttons have a premium feel to them when pressed down and are responsive without being overly sensitive to touch, so no false clicks, as well as no extra effort as I would sometime need to exert with M570 (though that could just have been out of pure frustration with the quality of the signal on the M570). The trackball is just slightly smaller than M570, but not in any way that has impacted or affected my use of the product or its functionality. Much like M570, the ELECOM product features rubberized stickers on the bottom to ensure that it does not slide around the table and remains stationary. Overall, this is a great product and I doubt I'll go back to Logitech or another brand if I need another one of these in the future. Amazon shipped it pretty quickly

As trackballs go, this one has a clean design, a comfortable feel, and an extra button for precision toggles. Side-scroll on the trackwheel feels nice, too. Actually using it, however, you run into the greatest flaw, and that this trackball doesn't, in fact, have a functional ball. It's not a problem with the ball they included (which is interchangeable with any other), and neither is it a problem with the sensors, but the frame itself simply does not work, almost like the external frame was designed for a smaller ball the internal mechanics expect. As a result, it 'sticks' quite a bit, and you effectively need to fight against it constantly in order to use it for even basic web purposes. And don't expect to use it for anything quick. Also, for some reason, the product happily advertises itself as containing a single battery. Not only does it not, it wouldn't have a way to use it; the device is, as advertised, fully wired. It's as though it was simply not thought through at all. I strongly recommend against using this model. I've found the M-XT3UR variation of the EX-G to be a great deal better; that one, at least, is functional even if fragile.

I am a long time MX Ergo user. Lost my Logitech Unifying receiver last week and figured now would be a good time to try this Elecom I've been looking at mainly out of curiosity. I use trackballs for everything from web browsing, Photoshop, to FPS gaming. I will be buying another Unifying receiver and more than likely shelving this trackball, but it is not all bad. I do like that the mouse is wired. The DPI switch is nice and having the "sniper" mode as a third click instead of a button near the ball is a far superior design to the Ergo. Removing the ball can actually (just barely) be done with my pinky finger which is not possible and quite annoying on the Ergo. I have a large hand and am able to comfortably hold this mouse. Your hand falls into place on this mouse where as with an Ergo your hand just rests on top. This mouse is a fraction of the weight of the Ergo. The mouse is a plastic shell with no coating (very similar to m570) where the Ergo has a nice rubberized coating where your palm sits. The Ergo has the tilt feature which I prefer as I use the mouse tilted upright. I have used this Elecom enough to where the bearings should be more than broken in and I am not too satisfied. Even after deep cleaning attempts and swapping between Ergo grey, 570 blue, etc. balls the bearings have a constant gritty feel to them. Ergo is much much smoother although I would put this Elecom far ahead of the Elecom Huge in terms of bearing quality. Overall it is not a horrible trackball. It has some features I actually wish my Ergo had and the fact that it is wired is a huge plus IMO. If this mouse had better smoother bearings I would give it a strong recommendation given its price point although the build quality of the Ergo just makes it a clear winner regardless of bearing quality if money is no issue. If you want the best thumb trackball experience, get an MX Ergo. I have tried them all. If you are just looking to dip your toes in the water get an m570 over this. I sadly can't think of a situation where I could recommend this trackball.

Este producto me parece esepcional por 3 aspectos: 1.- Es alambrico por lo tanto nunca requiere de cambios de pila o recarga de las mismas. 2.-Es fácil de dar mantenimiento, ya que la esfera se puedes desprender para da limpieza a los sensores y la esfera. 3.- Es súper ergonómico, ya que no castigas el túnel carpiano. Las únicas desventajas que encontré son las siguientes: 1.- Al principio es difícil acostumbrarse a su uso, pero una vez adaptado al uso es súper fácil de usar. 2.- el utilizar productos como cremas humectantes o residuos de maquillaje o grasa en las manos hace que los sensores se vuelva algo imprecisos es notorio cuando esto pasa ya que dificulta mucho realizar acciones precisas, la solución es la limpieza de los sensores y esfera con un poco alcohol y un cotonete.

It's not easy going from a mouse to a trackball, but this ended up easier than I expected. Still getting used to the new buttons, but they work well and are pretty intuitive. I'm not a gamer, so I can't comment on that. I can say that there are drivers available for Linux (Ubuntu 20.04 LTS), and both that and Windows 10 recognized it immediately, and the buttons map perfectly.

UPDATE 3 years later, still using this daily at work. Best mouse I’ve ever had! You get used to the rollerball within a few weeks. Plug and play, I’ve never had any issues with it! OLD: Got this as I have some issues with my wrist and I'm an office worker. I find it has changed alot for me. Not as much pain. It takes a few hours to get used to the rollerball but worthwhile. I don't think I'd go back to a normal mouse. It did stick a little at first, but doesn't now as I've wore it in a bit. I've not used this for gaming, I've used this to help me reduce pain and it has.
