PS4 Controller Battery

Works good and holds a consistent charge, no issues with my purchase!

This is a perfect kit for replacing the batteries in a PS4 controller. It has no instructions, but I had instructions on Youtube. It has two plug ins connected to the battery so that no matter the size of the plug in on your controller, there is one that will fit. I would buy this again. The only thing I had an issue with was the spatula-like tool that you use to pop open the controller. One side broke off the tool so I only have one side for any future fixes. Otherwise, this is a wonderful, helpful product. It really helped get rid of a problem that was driving us crazy. Now we have controllers that will hold a charge.

So within hours of receiving and opening this product, one of the batteries [BAT1] the small white power connector (for the CUH-ZZT2 controller) fell off and was broken. The connector hung off the black cable, the red power cable was not properly secured in the connector and was a manufacturing defect. Fortunately the controllers I was fixing the early generation controllers and were using the big connectors, but upon installing Bat1 into the controller, the controller did not close properly with the loose white connector and I did not want the loose red power cable rattling around in the controller and potentially short the board. So I had to carefully pull the small white connector off the black power cable and using tape I had to secure the loose wires to the battery. (see picture 1 and 2) The second battery I had no issues with installing, but I will let you know that you may have a mess of cables just sitting in your controller so you will have to figure out cable management before you close your controller. (See picture 3) Lastly in terms of battery life I would say they last about the same amount of time as the original (result my vary depending on your controller settings and based on other reviews the early PS4 controllers suffered from poor power consumption), but I also would like to point out that these batteries came fully charged out of the box which was nice. The tools are nothing to write home about they work if you don’t have a tool kit. Overall these batteries are a steal for the price. If you just want to keep your controllers working and don’t want to break the bank, or you have no idea or don’t remember what model PS4 controller you have and you want to take out the guess work of figuring out battery to device compatibility then these are ok. Just be aware that could get a defective battery like I did, if you do send them back. Also keep your original batteries until you install and test the new batteries for like a month.

Returned, not sure if bad battery or battery charger cord. But it wouldnt ever stop drawing power. Even when the controller was turned off it kept drawing power when disconnected saying it was charging. The yellow charge light just kept flashing. No cord or nothing. This wound up draining the battery very quickly so i returned it. But it did come charged so that was cool.

These have a double pigtail connector to accommodate different controller gens. These were easy to install and held a great charge. I don't have my controller or PS4 anymore but I strongly recommend these if your battery is crap.

I've had my PS4 (Uncharted edition) since the release in 2015. Nine years later, my controller still worked fine, but recently stopped taking or holding a charge. I thought it may be time to retire the poor thing and get a new one. I was kinda bummed about having a controller that didn't match the system's custom color/design. I learned you can replace the battery so I tried these in an attempt to save the controller. Swapping it out was easy. Unscrew the 4 screws in the back of the controller with the provided screwdriver. Use the trim tool to work your way around the case until the two halves separate. Lay it open (the top will still be wired to the bottom so don't go nuts) and simply lift out the old battery. Grab the plug and gently pull, and it pops out. Take the new battery, select the correct plug (mine used the small one), and plug it in. Tuck the extra wire alongside the first so it's out of the way, and put the two halves back together. Screw the 4 screws back in and you're done. My old controller is as good as new, and takes/holds a charge now. It's been saved. No special skills, no special tools. I can't believe it was that simple.

I gave these a chance since they had the most reviews overall. I should have listened to the reviews about poor battery life. I got a set of batteries that don't hold a charge. The initial charge was for many hours with a charger I know is good. I confirmed the battery meter was full on the PS4 before using it. After 20 minutes, the battery already lost one of the three battery meters. With the original batteries this would take several hours of gameplay. It also doesn't stay connected to the PS4. I have to do a hard reset every time I want to use the controller which is a pain. I'm disappointed in the purchase. One thing I want to mention because I saw it in other reviews, the battery plug is the same. It's not any different from the original. Yes, it is a tight fit just like the original plug. I gently used a needle nose pliers to remove both the old and new battery plugs and I had no issues at all.
