Variable Extension Telescope Camera Adapter - for Canon SLR Cameras Connected to Telescopes - for Prime- Focus Or Eyepiece-Projection Photography

The product is metal, and is sturdy and well made. I have a 6" Orion Dobsonian, so it only works when you insert an eye-piece inside the adapter, per the instructions in the product description and what was provided. Because of having to insert the eyepieces inside the adapter, It only fits some of my eyepieces, like my 25mm, but not my 40mm. It took a little trial and error to get the 25mm eyepiece to sit correctly in the adapter. You may think it's in all the way, but doublecheck before giving up. If the set screw doesn't hold the eyepiece in place properly, it's probably not all the way in. Once I got it properly assembled, I connected to my Canon 5D4 body and it worked. I was able to get reasonably sharp images. The hard part (no fault of the adapter) was sharpening the image since my old Orion is a beginner telescope and doesn't have fine tuning on the focus dial. I included a short video where you can see me tyring to focus the image in the first few seconds. The clouds didn't help either. Overall, I'm very satisfied and excited to put it to the test on some other objects besides the moon.

This adapter is nicely constructed and provides a steady, secure connection between the telescope and the DSLR camera. I am attaching some recent images that I got with this attachment/adapter.

I'm very satisfied with this camera adapter. It is well constructed, and I was able to use most of my eyepieces in it for my afocal shots. You could also choose to remove the 1.25" reducer and connect your camera directly into a 2" focuser for some good prime shots.

I rated it a three star because I have not used it because it did not fit my camera. so I will be trying to return this item and do more research into a more compatible device.

So far I have been using this camera for short exposure through the telescope during the day time. I have managed to get some breaks in the clouds that allowed me to tinker with the camera and optimize the setting for when I get some clear skies. Here are some things you should know; 1- this is not a cooled camera therefore it’s no suitable for photos of deep space objects. Andromeda will probably be the extent of non planetary photography. 2- this is ideal for equatorial mounts and alt az mounts that are wedges. Alt az mounts by themselves will not let you get over a 20 second exposure.

I bought this to use for solar and lunar photography with my Canon camera. Works with my old t6i and my r6(with adapter). Pros - Build quality appears excellent. Works great if using with an eyepiece. Cons - no matter what I did (even removed extension portion) I could not achieve prime focus on either my dob or refracting telescopes. Cameras seemed like they needed to get closer to focus image. Another area of improvement would be to have the interior of unit matte black. It is almost a semigloss and causes some issues with images (especially when photographing the sun or a very bright moon). Planning on spray painting interior with matte black per another person's suggestion. Would have given 5 stars if advertised as eyepiece projecting only and interior was non reflective.

Item matched the description, received in very good shape, it fits Canon 5D Mark IV perfectly, received earlier than the expected date 👍🏻
