I have used this sharpener to do emergency sharpenings on several knives ranging from 3in pocket knives to Kabars and an axe in the field. I now keep it in my car so it’s always with me just in case. The course plate cuts easy and removes a lot of metal. The fine plate is great for when your pocket knife gets a little too dull. I only use the ceramic rod on my s30v and m3 blades but afterwords they split hairs like a straight razor. I purchased this as an impulse buy and it has become a piece of kit that I cannot be with out.

I am a stickler for having sharp knives, and have used various systems over the years, my go to being the Edge Pro Apex system. I wanted something that I could throw in a pack and carry into the field to keep things tuned up, and have been considering this one for a while. Well I finally pulled the trigger, and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised.First night after receiving it, I tried it out on a couple of older pocket knives, one of which was pretty dull. Within just a few minutes, I had both blades shaving hair from my arm! It was quick and easy to get an edge that's as sharp as anything I've been able to get from any other system.After using this system on about half a dozen knives, If I had any knocks, it would be that it's a little bit more fiddly to use on larger knives. As others have stated, it is easier to make multiple passes and tackle larger blades in sections. Still got great results though.I don't know if this is the system I'd choose for show quality knives, but for EDC blades, that are meant to be used, this system will give great results in very little time.I definitely recommend this sharpener.
