Writer/director Kevin Munroe creates a striking animated world for the four heroes in a half-shell to live, play, and fight in, and the action sequences are occasionally breathtaking in their speed and complexity. But where TMNT stumbles is its bland plot, which picks up after the last of the live-action features with all four teen turtles in disarray, and abandons longtime villain Shredder in favor of an industrialist (well voiced by Patrick Stewart) who recruits the Foot Clan (including Karai, played by Zhang Ziyi) to revive thirteen ancient monsters to aid in his world domination scheme. It's a simple and fun story for kids, but longtime Turtles fans will miss the wry humor and smart sense of irony of the original comics (created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, who gets an executive producer credit here) in this storyline. Still, for most adolescent audience members, such concerns won't matter a whit in the face of the abundant action. --Paul Gaita Review: Movie - Great movie watch it Review: Good movie - My son's love TMNT and really wanted to watch this movie. So I bought it on Prime and they watch it all the time now.

TMNT movie!
So, been on a TMNT kick, just recently finished up my first watching of the 2012 series. I wanted to see another take, and I was finally convinced 3D doesn’t equal awful content when it comes to a series. (just a personal preference, 3D has kind of always been a make or break quality to watching something.) This is also 3D just in case I lost you on my rambling there. I really enjoyed this movie, quite a voice cast and the fights were pretty great. I don’t know if this is a tribute to some arc or story in the comics or in a video game but it was a fun story, and an interesting watch. The art style didn’t appeal to me at first with some characters, the turtles actually. But at some point it really grew on me.

Glad to see this wasn't butchered
When I heard about this movie coming out, I groaned. Yeah, fabulous...another cutesy butchering of what was originally a somewhat dark comic series (dark compared to what it is now, anyway). And I know that TMNT is aimed at the younger masses today, so I understand some kiddie-fying to make it sell. Anyway, I was impressed by it. First and foremost, the animation had my attention. I kind of liked the tall, slender look the Turtles were given...as opposed to looking very wide in past incarnations. And all the characters seemed to stick relatively true to their actual personalities: Leonardo being the teacher's pet, Donatello being the geek, Raphael being an angry jerk, and Michealangelo being an idiot with a surfer's voice. Why they turned April into a cutesy teenybopper-looking girl is beyond me, though. The plot was cool - I like how they used a comic book ally (Karai) besides having the Shredder come back to life *again*. And I like how the Turtles kind of went and did their own thing when Leonardo left to go find himself in South America. Sure, they remained in the same home, but rather than fighting crime, they all went and got jobs. Well, save for Raphael. Then again, this struck me as a little odd since in past movies, the Turtles were encouraged by Splinter to not let themselves be seen publicly. Sooo, now that's okay? That threw me off a little. I don't want to spoil it too much for folks who have not seen it, so I'll just say that it is a really good animated film and if you like the Ninja Turtles, it's a pretty nifty film.

Different take on the Turtles, great CGI
I believe the movie is called TMNT because the first "T" may mean Twenty-something, as they are no longer teenagers. This movie starts out showing the turtle's in the future: the Shredder is dead, they are no longer fighting crime as a group as they have regular jobs (except Raph) and Leonardo has left to pursue ways of becoming a better leader in South America.(random?) But of course, the turtles reunite just as evil forces from thousand of years ago appear in New York and need to be dealt with. This is pretty much a stand-alone movie. Some would say it comes after the live-action trilogy from before, but that is not case. (Splinter has both ears and they don't live at train station) There is part where they show their trophy case, and there are items that relate to the other movies, but then there's the canister that says TCRI (from series and novels) instead of TGRI (from the second live-action movie). Confusing... The CGI is excellent, and pretty famous voice actors: Chris Evans, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Patrick Stewart, Kevin Smith, Ziyi Zhang, and Mako, in his final role, as Master Splinter. Laurence Fishburne narrates, and Kevin Michael Richardson, who plays Shredder in the new CGI TMNT series on Nickelodeon, plays the villain General Aguila in this film. The film is well done, well paced, but it may confuse those who have no knowledge of the turtles, and even those who do as there are continuity issues (references to both the live-action movies and series). If you can look passed that, this movie is quite enjoyable, and as I said before, this movie has great CGI! Very reccommended!

Almost great - but settles for solid.
There are parts of this that are really great - the characterization and dialogue, the fight scene between Leo and Raph, Casey struggling with balancing his vigilante lifestyle and the need to "be the grown up" April needs...However, where it is strong in characterization, it's weak in plot. The subplot with Winters and the thirteen monsters seems mostly to exist as an excuse for fight scenes to happen, with no real relation to our heroes or stakes for them. And there are so many unanswered questions: Why was Leo sent away to train? Why does he feel like a failure? What prompted him to finally come back? Splinter says he's stronger now - in what way? Just why is Raph so resentful of him leaving? What prompts Raph's change of heart after their rooftop battle? What is it he understands now that he didn't before? These things are danced around, but never really explored. It would have been a much stronger movie if these questions were delved into, and if the consequences of the plot directly hinged on their resolution. As it is, however, it's entertaining and has the feel of a great turtles movie, even if it isn't, quite. Certainly runs rings around the 2k14 Michael Bay foray, though that's certainly a low enough bar. That being said, this movie established some brilliant moments of new turtle canon still reverberating through the fandom: whether it's Leo's jungle exile, Raph as the Nightwatcher, Donnie's wearying purgatory as your friendly neighborhood tech support, or even the perils of Cowabunga Carl, this movie tells the tale of brothers who are truly lost without each other, and how they find their way back to each other, and consequently, themselves: perhaps the most enduring Turtle Trope because it's the most truthful. Turtles have always been about family - and this is definitely an enjoyable family flick.

Naja und was soll man sagen: WOW! Das will was bedeuten! Fazit: KAUFEN!!! KAUFEN!!! KAUFEN!!! ;)

I was looking for a good CGI film on Blu Ray and out of all the animated film on offer, this new take on the TMNT looked to be a good bet. Being of the older generation of fan, it has been a long time since I've seen the turtles on the big screen and I can happily say that I really liked this film from start to end. The film is dark and gritty looking, like I remembered the first motion picture film being but the turtles have never looked so good, they are leaner, slicker and the fast past action/fight scenes are very well through out and choreographed. With snappy one-liners and tong in cheek comments with a great universal appeal. I think the highlight of the film for me is the fight scenes on the roof top in the rain. This is a great family film for all ages and looks stunning in 1080p.
