Caught a brown rat the first night. - I had been battling rats eating my rippening and green tomatoes. Tried netting, etc. Thought it might be a raccoon, but early morning inspections spotted something smaller. Ordered one of the Rockbird mouse traps and caught a brown rat the first night. I did the same modifications to hold the dual handles away from the cage that others mentioned. Put a few pieces of dog food in the "receiving" areas and a chewable dog treat on the "trigger wire". Hope to get the accomplice tonight. Note that the vendor recommends cleaning the cage in between captures. The rat in the photo has a body about 6-7 inches long, so this works well for rodents. Update after 3 weeks. I caught 2 brown rats and 2 juvenile opossums in the first week. There was one more rat that I had spied in my night time inspections, but it was avoiding the trap. The rats are notorious for marking dangers for their "kin". I had washed the trap with hot water (60C soapy water), but didn't catch the little vermin. Finally layered under the trap with freshly cut grass and caught the last one. Recommend that you get some twine to "tether" the retaining wire for the release door. It will make it easier to open the release door AND you won't lose the springy retaining wire when you are releasing your prisoner. I nearly lost mine but was able to find it. The manufacturer might consider this as a future modification. Everything else works GREAT. Very satisfied. Review: Well constructed, but the Trigger needs improvement - The trigger on this trap seems difficult or rare for chipmunks to set off. They go in and out of the trap many times without setting it off. I wasnโt able to catch any rodents after days of use. They love the bait, but the trap just doesnโt catch them. I Will be buying ones with a plate they actually stand on rather than this design. Save your money and bait. I regret this purchase.

This is a continuous rat trap but not a continuous mouse trap
This trap looks like it will catch a mouse.....the system is simple "pull the bait and the door shuts. " but you need to reset it each time for each mouse. The trap is big enough to hold a few dozen mice at one time... but your catch limit is 1 at a time The size of the trap is clearly overkill for the purpose of one mouse. The trapo s the size of a toaster. If I were this company I'd make a small model about 1/3rd the size and put two of them into each selling package.

Caught 2 mice at once
Caught 2 mice the first night. After letting them go at some distance away and re-baiting, I haven't been able to catch another though. I cleaned the cage and something ate bait I placed to attract the mice again so I know there were more mice present but they completely ignored the bait on the trigger mechanism. Somehow the mice became smart very quickly with it. After seveal days with this trap alone & no luck, I employed other traps and started catching mice again. The trap is well built. The only issue I had was that the wire locking the bait side door simply pops out too easily when attempting to open or close the trap. Seems like this could be redesigned to be safer and more secure.

The Rat is no more!
I have been trying to catch a rat that lives in my garage for over a year now... He is amazing at his Houdini routine...or he was. This guy has made more messes than I care to remember cleaning up. I got a huge trap last year but he just moved in and out of the holes a he was to small.... this year he put on some weight and I found this trap...He took great care not to get anywhere close ( I had a camera on him) until one night ( actually early am hours) he could not resist the lure of hot dogs and peanut butter. BOOM! But then he tried to open the trap door..... we ran down to the garage and wired him shut in it. The next morning after his finishing his last meal he was " dispatched" and on to the nether world. They tell you guaranteed to catch within 14 days or a full refund. and this trap is easy to clean up. My fella took three days. Boom chica chica boom!

This trap works!
4 weeks, 2 pest controllers, a dozen sticky traps, a co2 trap, 2 plastic humane traps, and 4 cages of different sizes and design had failed to catch a clever black rat nesting in our kitchen. Decided to buy this and finally caught the rat 1 week after setting. Some advice on using this trap better (after observing a rat's behaviour over a month on cctv): 1. Rats are highly intelligent and knowingly avoid most cages and traps. I wrapped this trap in a moist, dark coloured towel (including the interiors of the trap itself) to entice it in; 2. Choice of baits is important. Contrary to popular belief, my problem rat refused to take the peanut butter baits. I tried different baits (dried pasta, blueberries, raspberries, dried oats, peanuts and a variety of biscuits) before concluding berries and pasta were irresistible to the particular rat and used that with this new trap. I only had 1 rat to trap, so I cannot tell if the trap can be easily cleaned and suited for multiple uses. Hope this helps!

Not the best trap
OK, by the third week I caught a chipmunk. My dogs were so impressed, I was a good hunter they thought. Unfortunately thatโs the only thing I caught with this trap. I have cleaned it as it recommended I have put it in hot water, even hotter than they recommended. No matter what Iโve done I have never had a second critter get into this trap. My dogs, well, they kind a look at me like a failure now.

Do not recommend for mice.
I have 3 types of mouse traps. I have the great little plastic house types which are great at catching mice I have a corner repeater trap which has in fact caught multiple mice at once. Then there is this one. The only pro for me is the set up is fairly simple. Everything else is a con for my scenario. I sat this up in the most prominent place I see mice move about and I have not caught one mouse. I use the same bait for all the traps and the mice just do not enter this one. Frankly after setting it up I think it is too big and heavy for mice. This seems better suited for bigger rodents like rats but for mice it is too large. So if you have rats this would probably work well. If you have mice it is a complete waste of money.
