No hot sauce needed
Tab Benoit is a true blues treasure. A soulful singer, an economical but highly effective guitarists that can play a variety of styles (from Cajun to country, blues to soul) and a solid songwriter. Also, when not on the road, he records and produces some of today's top blues acts (Alastair Greene and Damon Fowler to name but 2). This disc is the proof in the pudding. It contains a nice mix of blues styled tempos, many of which have a Louisianna feel. Another nice thing about this disc is (unlike many releases) it uses the full time available on the disc (over 70 minutes). Guaranteed to put a smile on your face and get your feet moving. I have paid double the price for discs half as good as this one. If you already know his music, then you know what I'm talking about. If not, it's time for you to treat yourself to some good music and add some bayou flavor to your music library. Good day.

Pure Southern, Louisiana, Bayou, Blues Rock at it's VERY BEST - Includes La.'s LeRoux, Jimmy Hall, Cyril Neville & More!!!!!!
This entire album is well worth the price just for one song alone, and that song is a Relatively New, "Live" Cover Version of Louisiana's LeRoux 1978 Classic Hit "New Orleans Ladies". It was originally released on Tab's "Night Train to Memphis" album. This particular Cover Version of "New Orleans Ladies" features Jimmy Hall (Lead Singer of the Southern Rock Band Wet Willie) on some of the lead vocals & harmonia, along with Louisiana's LeRoux, themselves, & Tab Benoit on lead guitar & some lead vocals. Tab sings the first verse, Jimmy Hall sings the second verse, then they both sing lead vocals together. It's an "Awesome" version of this great classic Southern Anthem. Plus, it was recorded "Live". By the way, Jimmy Hall & his band "Wet Willie", finally re-united after all these years, and they have just recently released a Brand New Live Album, recorded in 2011. It's entitled "Miles of Smiles". Amazon has it listed.ALL the other songs are OUTSTANDING SONGS also if you like Southern, Electric, Blues Rock. The song "The Blues is here to Stay" features Cyril Neville on vocals & percussion. (Cyril is from New Orleans' First Family of Music - The Neville Brothers, plus he is also in the band "Royal Southern Brotherhood".)"Nice and Warm", & "Whiskey Store" features Jimmy Thackery on guitar, Plus, both of these songs also feature the late/great Stevie Ray Vaughan's band members (Double Trouble). They are Reese Wymans on piano, Tommy Shannon on bass, & Chris Layton on the drums."Coming On Strong" features Louisiana's LeRoux as the backing band, Billy Joe Shaver on some vocals & Louisiana Cajun Rocker & Fiddler, Waylon Thibodeaux on the fiddle. (Waylon Thibodeaux & his band, performed regularly at a club on Bourbon Street in the New Orleans French Quarter for years. Plus, he has released several albums.)Both "New Orleans Ladies" & "Bayou Boogie" were recorded "Live". Both songs are "awesome".This is simply Tab Benoit & His Friends/Guest Artists, performing "LOUISIANA, SOUTHERN, ELECTRIC, BLUES ROCK AT IT' VERY BEST!!!! I just can't understand why anyone, who loves good music, would be disappointed in this GREAT ALBUM.If you like the Allman Brothers Band, Gregg Allman, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Warren Haynes & Gov't Mule, Robert Cray, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, Janis Joplin, Marcia Ball, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Tabby Thomas, Chris Thomas King, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Doyle Branhall II, Dr. John, The Neville Brothers, & other Blues Rock Artists, then you should really enjoy this fantastic album. I love it, and I gladly recommend it. Thanks, and I hope this review has been helpful.

Burning up the Bayou!!
I first heard Tab Benoit on xm and immediately added him to my pandora and i heart stations. Not wanting to spend a ton on all of his cd's I decided to start here. Tab does have his fair share of covers on this "greatest hits" collection but every song is played so well that you don't ever fell like he's phoning it in. Now everyone is different but for me the real standout tracks are shelter me, night train, nice and warm, darkness, the blues is here to stay, medicine, whiskey store, and the last two songs which unless you read it and just listened you might not realize are live because they are so sharp and clean are new orleans ladies and bayou boogie. The disc starts out high octane then changes it up by slowing down and going a little more mellow then builds again untill it finish's with a 10 minute scorcher named Bayou Boogie. Anyone who is a fan of southern rock swamp blues is going to enjoy this. At this price point you can't go wrong so get this cd pop a cold one grab some gumbo and head down to the Bayou.

Tab Benoit - Another Nice Collection
This is the 2nd compilation album from Tab Benoit and it goes hand in hand with the first one “Best Of The Bayou Blues”. The two albums cover different stages of Tab’s career with completely different track listings. “Legacy Best Of” covers Tab’s post 1997 output all the way up to his most recent offering “Medicine”. This is a very nice collection and truly does represent a lot of Tab’s best material. This compilation includes many of Tab’s concert staples including the closest thing he has ever had to a hit “Shelter Me”, and other great tracks like “Night Train”, “New Orleans Ladies”, and a smoking live version of “Bayou Boogie”. The only track on here that I am not all that thrilled about is the country tinged “Comin On Strong”. Benoit toyed with country on one album and for me it only half worked. Overall though this is a very nice collection that would serve as a great introduction to Tab’s work or a nice overview. Buy this one with the earlier “Best Of The Bayou Blues” and you have a nice 2 CD compilation.

cajun blues at it best
tab benoit has rapidly ascended to the throne room of the cajun blues guitarists.he is a rare instrumentalist that can play up a storm, sing up a storm even some killer country blues too. his low key personality makes anyone that sees him marvel at the way he plays and seems to act like it is nothing at all to smoke on the guitar like he does.to say that his ego is held in check is to state the obvious.i heartily urge anyone that has the chance to see him play this music that he plays as soon as possible.you will not regret one minute or cent of the money that it will cost you.all in all a fine recording of one of louisianas fine blues pickers at his finest. my only criticism is i wish that it was two discs even though i have plenty of his music other than this i cant seem to get too much of it

Good downhome Louisiana blues
I bought this on the back of the Son's of Guns theme tune. The rest of the album is a great album of rough downhome blues, gritty vocals & slide guitar. Well worth the money
