McFarland Cascade Terratec Luminous Plastic Solar Post Cap, Black, Fits 4x4-Inch Post

This product basically just identifies the perimeter of our deck. Does not offer any real illumination in the sense that I wouldn't recommend it as a sole source of light. But the eight lights we have around the perimeter of our deck look really nice from a distance and the solar power runs all through the night.In retrospect, I guess I wouldn't want the lights too very bright in consideration of my neighbors homes who are just ten feet away on either side. However, if you were attempting to light an area in a really rural area where you NEEDED the additional external light to illuminate a path or to enable you to see at night, I wouldn't recommend it as a primary light source. Strictly decorative.

I purchased these lights to replace the exact lights I got last summer. I installed them on the posts of my black powder coated fence. They are really cute and I get lots of complements on them. The only thing I don't like is that two of them stopped working within 4 months. I tried replacing the bulbs but that didn't work. I decided it was less expensive to order new ones than it would be to return them or try to find someone to fix them. They work great while they work, just don't expect them to last.

I installed these lights a few months ago and they are all still working and staying on throughout the night. The only issue I had was with the installation. They did not fit easily over the 4X4 redwood posts. I had to sand down the posts in order for the lights to fit. Not that big of a hassle for lights that are so inexpensive and so far have worked flawlessly. If you are looking for bright lights these aren't the lights for you but if it's attractive ambient lighting that is your goal go for it and get these.

Nice construction, Nice fit, a seemingly good item...except that it doesn't charge the battery very well. The solar cell is unobstructed most of the day, so it gets plenty of juice, but the output from the LED is barely noticeable from across the yard. Im pretty disappointed in the light part of it. The form is great but the function is lacking...

I am using this light to mark the entrance to our drive. True, it does not shed much, if any, light on the ground but as a spot in the dark it's fine. Still bright each morning when I leave for work.Oops edit and star removal time. Two months in, deader than a door nail. Too bad, really wanted to like this.Second edit, just a really crummy battery. Bought a new rechargeable and it works fine.Third edit, fading fast again. I keep hoping for the best, but it's just not very good. Wish someone could make a good solar powered light.

Hhmmm, not really impressed with this light. Have had it on the mailbox post for several months now, but am not at all impressed. First it is made of very cheap plastic exactly what you expect from China these days. Second the light it puts out is laughable it might be equivalent to a firefly, no kidding. You will definitely not use this as a marker to find your way. There is not enough output to read your address on a piece of mail. If there are any clouds/overcast skies it will Not light up at all. Wouldn't buy this again, good thing it was cheap.

The product arrived on time and in good shape, placed it on a fence post that is in the sun just about all day. Allowed it ti charge for two days but it only had a very dim light, barely visible from 10 feet away. Changed out the rechargeable battery with a new fully charged battery and the illumination was slightly more visible the first night. The next night it was back to a barely visible light.

It fits nicely on our mailbox and it definitely adds to the look of things. However we had to do some repair work when we got it because part of it was broken.
