Kids loved the Jax, ignored the sticks.
My grandkids loved the Jax, as soon as I showed them.For 6 & 8 yr olds, they got the hang of it pretty fast - after just a couple tries, they were able to not only catch the ball, but pick up a piece & still catch the ball. I was surprised how fast they managed it, but my grandson was proud for all of about 5 minutes, then decided he liked the ball for a bouncy ball better, & once Grandpa showed the Jax could be used for spinning tops, that was the end of any Jax playing as intended.I loved that the sticks came in a wooden box, but the kids completely ignored them, and didn't even want to learn how to do it. So that part was a dud for my grandkids. I'll probably find some other use for them.Overall, they liked the jax for about 5-10 minutes, then moved on. The sticks were of no interest at all.Your kids may be different, but for something that I spent many hours playing as a kid, this was not what I expected. Maybe I'll play it, instead. My hand eye coordination is not what it used to be. I took longer to get the hang of it again, than they did, & I used to be quite good at it.The toys themselves were OK quality. The ball bounces pretty good, and the Jax don't have too much of a seam line, so that's good. The sticks were pretty good too, with no slivers to get on the sticks, and the box seems fairly well made, though the lid sticks a bit, and is harder to open than need be. A slight dent in the lid to catch a finger to aid in pulling it open would be appreciated, because without it, I had to get tape to pull it open. Simple fix, but shouldn't need to.

Family time!
During my childhood, I played with jacks and pickup sticks with my siblings and friends. I wanted my grandchildren to experience a simpler time without Ipads and electronics to teach eye and hand coordination. Now that they've learned the object of the games it's our favorite pass time when they visit. They couldn't believe something so simple could be that much fun.

What a fun gift.
It was a birthday gift For my 76-year-old friend. She loved it. Her and I used to play this when we were about seven years old. I think she still playing.
