Could this dimmer switch cause problems with an outside security light on the same circuit?

I believe it is the same (similar) technology of all the others. A contact rides over a semi-conductive surface, the greater the distance, the dimming effect is also greater. I hope this helps. 100MarkM59

Can I use this for speaker wire? To shut off and turn on music to a speaker?

No, not this one, however there are most identical looking wall dimmers made specifically for audio sound purposes. They control speaker output for that particular living area. They are little pricey, bulky, and almost always have some difficulty working with. The resistance range for control is different and they are designed for stereo which doubles the the audio circutry, coils, etcetera.

Does it work for 220 volts?

No this switch will not work with 220 volts.
