I Love The 80s

I Love The 80s by Megan Crane
This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. It's an incredible story and very well written. I totally felt I was right there and part of the story. After a freak accident during a storm, Jenna Jenkins is transported back to 1987 where her all time rock star crush, Tommy Seer is still alive and on top of his game. Her quest is to stop his death (which all these years was assumed just an accident). Can she figure out what happens and who is to blame? Can she prevent it from happening? Can she fight her feelings for Tommy and the heartbreak she knows she will suffer? I didn't want to put down my Kindle and really didn't want the story to end. I recommend this book to anyone who wants something fun and enjoyable read.

Back to the Future as a mystery.
My favorite all time movie from the eighties is Back to the Future. A well crafted movie with a cast of characters that keeps you believing that your actually part of the story. This one takes place in the 2000s. When a girl is transported to 1987 to save her favorite rock star from being murdered. There were funny moments in this story that had me chuckling out loud and moments when I wanted to see how they could change to the past to get back to the Future!

An Adventure (back in time, but not too far...)
I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did (see, I'm posting a review!). The synopsis sounded a little silly and a little different (hooray!) so I picked it out because I wanted something unique. It provided a really interesting look back at an era a lot of folks barely remember. I liked the characters and really enjoyed their development as the story progressed. It's a good read - well-written, well researched, and has just enough magic to make it special.

Didn't love the rough language
I love the 80s - RViolence: noneSex: roaming hands, then 60% in there was easily skipped over and euphemism-laden sexLanguage: 150+ swears, including deity and 35+ FBombs, some coarse phrasesSuper fun premise, especially for a time travel book. Time travel + rock star = big entertainment.I really, *really* hated all the rough language, though.

I love this book! <3
I have fallen in love with this book! Such a wonderful and cute story <3If you are an 80s child, or you are in love with the awesomeness that was the 80s, you'll love this book.I found it on Amazon and got the kindle edition for free (getting the physical copy soon), so I decided to give it a go. That was a good decision! The characters are great, the setting is perfect, and the 80s references had me laughing for hours! Seriously, 80s fashion was hilarious, thank god I was too young in the 80s for the full-on insanity lol.Our MC, Jenna Jenkins, 35 years old, dumped by her fiance, and to deal with all the chaos in her life, she surrounds herself with her adolescent obsession with Tommy Seer. Tommy is the lead singer of the "The Wild Boys", an 4-member British 80s rock band that was all the rage until Tommy, at the height of his career, died 20 years ago in a car accident. One thing leads to another, and *woop woop*, TIME TRAVEL!!!Yes, I have a thing for time travel! I am a geek after all ;)So Jenna travels back in time and she finds herself working with Tommy! At first, she thinks it is a dream, and tries to get all fan-girly on him, only to be super surprised when things don't go her usual way (yes, she dreams about Tommy A LOT)"and since it was her dream, it was about time she started acting the way she'd be too afraid to act in real life. Otherwise, what was the point? why dream at all?"Once she realizes that it is NOT a dream, she takes it upon herself to try and change the future.Jenna had to go through a lot.. and amazingly, there was lots of growth and self-discovery along her journey. One thing I really enjoyed is that this book doesn't only talk about Jenna's story, but also to a lot of us fangirls who paint these perfect personalities and stories of our celebrity crushes - forgetting that they are normal humans after all, with complex personalities and their own issues to deal with. Its easy to forget that those celebrities have specific personas to play publicly, and it doesn't necessarily mean that this is who they are.I highly recommend this book.. What more can one ask for? It is cute, funny, witty, and SHOULDER PADS!! And there were lots of great quotes too!

This child of the '80s couldn't put it down
I read this book (which is longer than it really needs to be), start to finish, in about four days, in all of my free reading time. Even as I rolled my eyes at the overdescription of '80s fashion, I HAD to keep reading--I spent my teen years in the 1980s (during which I was pretty obsessed with time travel books), so I had a lot of fun with the story. And as an adult, I can't help but envy Jenna for being able to relive 1987 from an adult's perspective. This book was fun fluff, and I easily skimmed the parts that had me rolling my eyes especially heavily. I'm not much of a romance reader, and I found the sex scenes pretty ham-handed--easy to flip past and get to the fun adventure of the story. I saw a LOT of things coming throughout the entire story, but the ultimate ending WAS a (fun, silly, nicely tied up with a bow) surprise. Four stars for page-turning fun.

Brilliant...
Where do I start?... I loved this book. Being an 80's girl myself, I just knew that I would be hooked from the first page and I wasn't disappointed. I loved all the references to the 80's and the main characters Jenna & Tommy were likeable and believable. A fantastic storyline and, for once, a book that has a complete ending - no loose ends! I must admit the time travel aspect is slightly 'out there' but please don't let that put you off and just go with it.. I'm so glad I did, as this is one of the best books I have read in a while. I think everyone, old or young, would secretly love a rock star to fall madly in love with them and this indulges what real life doesn't!! Just a really fab book that I highly recommend.

excellent reading
A totally addictive read!! My only disappointment was that it finished. I love "time travel" books (lost in austen) and will definitely hunt out more books by this author. I got lost in the story and struggled to see "whodunnit". Very highly recommended.
