It works.
supplied with incorrect knobs. The knobs are splined. the shafts are D shaped shafts. I had a knob that fit so no loss.

Mostly fine, skips steps sometimes.
I use it for hobby projects. It's usually fine, but it acts erratically if you turn it too fast. Other than that, it's good.

Great modules - useless knobs
The modules are good, the packaging is excellent, and it’s great that they come with a washer and nut for mounting. By the way, the shafts ARE threaded, despite what the pictures show! So they CAN be mounted normally.Unfortunately the knobs/caps that are included won’t fit on these modules. That’s the only reason I removed a star. The caps are built to accept a thinner, round shaft. The thick D-shaped shafts on these modules are just too big to fit, so if you NEED caps for your encoders, the ones included in this kit won’t work. They’re nice caps though! I’m sure I’ll find another use for them.

Knobs don’t fit shaft!
Knobs that come with these (shown in the left of the picture) do not fit the shaft of the encoder. The shaft has a flat and needs knobs as shown in the right. You can force the misfit knobs onto the shaft, but the knob will not be centered.I will return these. Ironically, my previous KY-040 order fromd the TAISS store had exactly the same problem. My 2020 order from the WayinTop store came with the correct knobs, shown in the right.

DO NOT BUY
This control will almost always trigger the encoder when pressing the push button. If you think you can use this pushbutton/encoder combination as a reliable input device - you are mistaken. Because the pushbutton can not be pressed without it first randomly triggering the encoder, the resulting control signals will be random and unpredictable, thus resulting in unintentional control of your application. These cheap encoders might be useful for young student to experiment with, however they are a menace to anyone trying to build a useful and reliable device.

Quality is good.
Solid click detent. Very nicely built. Was using as replacements in a button box. They do not work with leo bondar boards. Arduino board required for proper use. Encoder function traced to clk and dt pins, without additional power input they read only in one direction and very sporadic

Great Product
These worked great for the ping pong game that I bought them for. They did just what I needed. They were good quality and priced well.

Convenient, inexpensive, and reliable
Rotary encoders are not hard to come by, but these stand out for their price, and for the fact that they include simple but attractive enough knobs that fit their shaft.
