Q: What is the length of the robbin? The specifications say 6.5 inches but that doesn't seem accurate.

Ribbon is ten meters by 4mm. 10 meters is 32 feet. I think the 65. inches you are looking at describes the card the ribbon comes on.

I don't use it in washable projects.

This is silk ribbon used in embroidery very nice quality and using an wide eye ribbon embroidery needle these make beautiful work. The ribbon. Slides well through embroidery fabric garment leather silk panels and linen. That is how it has been used by me. Good luck;)

Q: Would this ribbon work as handles for gift bags we will be making?

I wouldn't use it for that. It is only about 1/4 inch wide. So if you are making little bags that are only a couple of inches tall, it would work, but a regular-sized gift bag that is 8x10 inches or larger, it probably wouldn't look very good.
