Mission Implausible; But Fun
Now that I'm well into my 60's, and have been a movie buff all my life, I can recognize "formulas" and plots (it's debatable as to whether there's a difference), and can most often (not always) predict the next move or outcome. Too oft repeated, this gets old. Now, I was entertained by this film most of the time, so don't get me wrong...I enjoyed it. I appreciate all the hard? work that goes into such action / adventure flicks with their twists and turns, special effects, et al. And I KNOW it's fantasy entertainment. It's just that what we are presented with on-screen is based on what a person is supposed to be able to do in this real world of hard rules like physics, spatial awareness, physical ability, fast thinking common sense decisions under high stress, etc. And bullets outrun people; there's NO reason to chase anyone running in a straight line while holding a firearm; and even more unbelievable if there's more than one armed pursuer. It's vary hard to miss someone in such a scenario. And bullets don't ricochet off cars and rotor or fixed wing aircraft; they penetrate. As an aside, how many times have you seen a bullet penetrate a windshield of a car (from the front), miss the occupant(s), and NOT penetrate the rear window?...or vice versa. Where do you think that bullet went? OK, I admit to being on a bit of a personal peeve rant here, so, plots and formulas aside, I'll just close with the fact that I'd really like to see more weapons / ballistics training and consultation in movies (especially high budget ones)-there's NO excuse for cutting such corners. If they can afford to pay an actor ten or twenty MILLION dollars for 3 or 4 months' part time work, specialty professional consultation is certainly affordable. And as for medical, the same applies. One can NOT function well at all with a bullet or knife wound to the shoulder, thigh, foot, hand, wherever! Believe me, I know. Consult a trauma specialist. Hey, I'll do it; and very reasonably, too! It's just NEEDED.Now I just watched this MI movie after the latest 007 flick, with another high budget action film before that; all back to back, so please don't "nit-pick" regarding who had what wounds, what plane, what windshield, etc. It's the overall point I want to make that applies to all of them, MI-RN included. We need more plausible, credible, believable scenes in high budget action films. I'd give more movies a 5 IF ONLY...We are a more educated (in some ways), tech-savvy, and detail oriented audience than once we were."Nuff said. Aloha to all!

A to A+ Rating!
I rarely give excellent reviews, but I feel obliged to give an A to A+ Rating for this Movie.Pros1) Adheres or gives homage to the Original Mission Impossible TV series, possibly setting a new bar. The initial one to three years of the Mission Impossible TV Series style seemed to focus towards the best clothing worn during the mid 1960's. Albeit, no classical music enthusiast or fan of vinyl records is going to enjoy the opening scenes. Absolutely horrid, however plausible introduction.2) Seems to have a better balance of plot versus action. Personally, I enjoyed the balance (of good plot to little violence ratio) of the first one to three years of the Original Mission Impossible TV series.3) If you've watched the first one to three years of the Original Mission Impossible TV series, you'll notice a less than perfect final product, and yet the series was a success. This Movie version gives a similar more balanced and sometimes more realistic view versus unrealistic scenarios, versus the previous Mission Impossible Movie versions released by Mr. Tom Cruise. (ie. Similar well balanced acting/scenarios, similar to the Original Mission Impossible TV series.)4) The plot was well written. The plot looks to likely have had many rewrites, indicative of good talent or good writing. Again, reminiscent of the Original Mission Impossible TV series.5) The digital aerial photography is absolutely stunning, depicting the awesome detail of the awe inspiring scenery.6) Had few to no problems using Open Source (alongside some proprietary software) tools for playback.Cons1) If you're older and drink a beer, or have hungry pets around, you're going to want an intermission.2) Violence. (Funny how once good acting or an acting series starts to depict violence, it's difficult to avoid and maintain viewers interest without increasing the violence within later series or later acts.)I think Mr. Greg Morris would have given a more favorable review of this Movie Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation. This Movie almost tended to down-play the action scenes by adding more unpredictable action, while increasing the focus upon the plot. Regardless, I think any Movie with a good plot, does not need to rely on effects. I'm looking forward to the next Mission Impossible Movies!2016.02.18 14:43 EST: Just watched the producer notes audio version, and found the information interesting. I too agree the digital aerial photography is absolutely stunning depicting the awesome detail of the awe inspiring scenery. And the beginning and ending credits really put the icing on the cake. And the fact the beautiful girl drove away with only a hug. Just really too many "And's" here, and really the entire Movie was just phenomenal.

Rogue Nation
