My 3.5-year-old son really enjoys this set! He likes to be able to build his own creations and add wheels in all sorts of crazy places. The first thing we did was make a model Rudolf. (Of course, he has also made a gun - sheesh!) It's fun to attempt to reproduce the structures on the "example sheet" - "How many holes are in that piece?" "Can you find a blue 3-holer?" The included wrench is great for attaching the wheels, however he prefers to use his hands on the nuts and bolts, which are a great size for little hands. Little hands also can cope easily with the box latches and handle - a great boon to clean-up time! It must be said that one of the models on the example sheet (the helicopter) requires two sets to make. However if you do get two sets, you have the advantage of being able to use the two tools in opposition (not possible with only one set, you have to use a hand in conjunction with the tool). A great value toy! Highly recommend!

It was fun for my 4yr. old grandson to play with for a very short while because of the limited amt. of pieces in the set. As a result there isn't much that can be built. I probably wouldn't have purchased this is I was aware of this.

I ordered this for my grandson's 2nd birthday. He loves it especially all of the wheels included in the set. There are enough items in this set to keep him busy for a good while. Mom and Dad like it because it comes with its' own storage container. If gift wrapping had been available, I would have given this item 5 stars. I highly recommend this toy for any child 2 and over.

I was really surprised at how long this kept my son (5) and nephew (9) occupied while my sister and I visited. We were able to drink coffee and talk for a couple hours without any interruptions! Yaaaaaaaa!!!Of course with all new toys, the thrill eventually dies down and they get played with less and less.The set came with 2 cubes that broke within 2 days of gentle use. I tried gluing the green one back before it fell apart completely. The yellow one was considered a total loss. I wish we had more than 2 cubes in the set and I wish the plastic was stronger on them.Today my son and his dad put together the dog from the pamphlet. Too cute!Update 12-08-2016I changed my rating to a 5 star! Seller was great to work with and quickly resolved the issue we had with the broken cubes.My husband kept thanking me for getting this builder set for our son. (They both got to play with their own, LOL) Today they were very busy building cool things which include a dog, giraffe and robot.

After reading the reviews I thought it would be a great toy for my 4 year old who loves to build. The parts do not stay together very well, even when you use the wrench to screw it in tighter, once you move it to put in the position you want it loosens up. My son got very aggravated because it would not stay in place. He is used to building with lego's. Very disappointed.

I was SO disappointed! I got this for my son's birthday and unfortunately, pieces don't all fit together like the way it did on the box. If you try to put two wheels next to each other to build a robot like on the box, they won't fit next to each other! Then a couple of the adults tried to build the giraffe, only to find that only one wheel can go in which makes the other wheel impossible to go in! What is going on here?! I bought two sets and returned both to Amazon (Thank goodness for their return policy).

This was a birthday gift for a child turning five. He was enthralled with the kit, as were his three-year-old twin brothers. They pulled out the accompanying instruction sheet, which contains pictures of all pieces in the set plus about 18 suggested structures, All three kids immediately wanted to look at the "map" and build their selections. One kit isn't enough! I had to do some refereeing to keep peace. Even without the "map," they built their own creations and played for a long time.The multicolored pieces are made of sturdy plastic and faintly remind me of the old Erector Sets from the 50's and 60's, with "girders" of different lengths, wheels, and plastic bolts and nuts. They have no sharp edges and there is a tool included (also made of plastic) to screw together or unscrew the "hardware." I think the kit is a great learning tool for manual dexterity and simple practical mechanics.My only request might be that the pictures on the instruction page would be doubled in size - it was a little difficult to accurately make out the details when attempting to build one of the illustrated items. However, it won't stop me from buying the set again - maybe even for the twins, whose birthday is coming in a few months.Overall, I would totally recommend this toy-that-is-more-than-a-toy.
