Kelty Tuck EX 40 Deg Thermapro Sleeping Bag

I have only used this sleeping bag once so far this year but will many more soon. For the first use it ended up getting a little chilly for late May so it was a good test of the warmth factor of this bag. It held up very well in that aspect it was about 45-50 degrees that night with a strong breeze and I was warm all night. The size and length of this bag are fantastic, I am 6 foot and have a large frame and I fit into this bag comfortably and even had room to spare. My one and only complaint about this bag is in regards to the zipper function. Now I am not sure if it was just my bag that has this problem or if this is a common occurrence but when I got to zip this bag up it is a fight. The action on the zipper when opening the bag is as smooth as one would expect from a new quality Kelty product but closing this bag especially with me in it is near impossible. It is such an inconvenience I would almost not recommend this product and I am not hesitant about making future purchases from Kelty, which is a shame because I like their style and attitude towards being in the outdoors. I am going to try and see if graphite lubricant helps with this and will follow up.All in all the bag is good for a taller person that is wide in the shoulders and the warmth factor does quite well. I just hope that if you order this product you have better luck with the zipper than I did.

Right out of the sack, a 6 inch unsewn seam at the bottom of the foot box. Who was sleeping at quality control? White fluffy lining clearly should NOT be seen. I weigh 300 lbs and I wear a 3xl or 4xl teeshirt... thank goodness I bought the Tuck EX or it would be too small. As it is, I can barely zip it up. Foot box is great. Leg room is nice. Waist area gets snug. Shoulders? If you can manage to zip it all the way up, almost no arm room at all- very cramped. .. getting a replacement sent to me and I will determine if I will keep it or move to another roomier brand...

Bag has plenty of room for a big, restless sleeper like me to roll and toss around in. Yet it still packs down to a reasonable size and is relatively light. I haven't had it out in the field yet (it's 1 degree F here, not my camping weather) so I can't vouch for its warmth but I'll update if anything changes my rating.

Purchased for indoor cabin use with temps no lower than 50°. At first I liked, but then had to add a military surplus bivy sack to stay warm, as I became unhappy after several times sleeping in it and feeling cold.Then after that, it was warmer and more comfortable, however the zipper became a major issue right from the start. The zipper on my bivy is substantial and sure footed, the zipper on the Kelty bag is inferior and a hassle. Not long after, about 15 or 20 nights, I had to play with the zipper at 5 am to get it to work from both ends since it came, apart without even unzipping it. Tried to rezip it and the entire bottom zipper broke off and i could not fix it, rendering the whole bag useless. Threw it in the dog crate.

Incredible bag! I am 6'2" and 250Lbs and I have room to spare. I love the foot box vent, one of the best sleeping bags I have ever had. Kelty hit a home run with this one, I would recommend for anyone who is a tall, broad person. It doesn't feel confining at all.Used it at around 50 degrees and had to have it open all night, really a warm bag. I do sleep warm, but this was great.

I am a big guy 6 ft and 255, and this bag has been great. I hate the constricting feeling of normal sleeping bags and this one allows me to toss and turn at night.I have used it down into the low 30s and stayed nice and warm. Great bag for bigger guys at a price that doesn't break the bank which is unusual for anything not "normal" sizes.

These bags are GREAT for a big guy. I'm 6'1 around 325. I have a 50" waist and a 58" chest and this bag fits me comfortably. I have both the 20° and the 40° and I have no complaints. Kelty is almost always a great value.

Get out fast set up fast and packs up easy.
