Applied XR-3 - Modular Test Instrument Base

Purchased with the VSAT-ACM module after years of using the Super Buddy, which became more and more incompatible with commercial sat identification (DVB-S2). This equipment works as expected with no guess work other than selecting polarity - C/Ku or LNB power. I had five 4.5M dish controllers to program to several feeds for a local TV station. It was a huge relief to see the LOCK identification on the screen after struggling to peak these antennas (with the out dated Super Buddy), which were on the rooftop of a building 5 stories above me.The battery Life is a bonus and the construction is bombproof. Applied Instruments has great support also. They have dishes set up in their field lab to verify and troubleshoot any issues you have. I have contacted them several times over the years and the response time is instantaneous. They will tune their dishes to any feed in question to support your issue(s). There is no question when choosing this type of test equipment for me. We still have the super buddy just in case we need to orient direct TV antennas but that is not our field of work.

After unsuccessfully trying to set up my dish (Dish Network) with the included "satfinder" device I purchased another device (SATlink WS-6906) which was equally as bad. I was about to give up and send my dish back when I saw this item and ordered it (with the XR-TS2-01 module). When I got the meter I connected t to my dish and saw that I had a weak signal. I swung the dish left and right, found the strongest signal then changed the elevation and was locked on the correct satellite within 10 minutes of connecting. I hadn't even read the manual yet and got my dish pointed first time. My only complaint is the price, but I realize that getting professional grade test equipment is going to be expensive. And since this if for our RV to help set up the dish while on the road I personally think it's worth the expense.

I was on the roof for over 2 hours aligning a large Perfect 10 dish for one of my radio station clients. I expected my battery life to die after the first hour. I still had slightly over half battery life when I finished. I also love the large color display, the ease of navigating the screens, able to ID the satellite once locked. I know this gets mostly used in the Dish or Direct TV world, but it worked great for my application in the world of commercial broadcasting. I was moving our dish alignment from AMC-8 to AMC-18. Worked great

Expected to receive XR-3 with Wi-Fi , but only received basic XR-3. Vendor will charged 15% restocking to swap unit.Decided to keep basic XR-3 and pay to upgrade from Manufacturer later for $150.

This instrument modular base, performs necessary tasks for one of the technology solutions my Company offers and was a MUST have. Simple as that. Amazon, has the best prices for it when i searched extensively on the web, simple as that.

Great product because you can keep it for future upgrades without you worrie to left behind wuth the change on satellite or other signals to check on a satellite system
