The keys are sturdy but might not handle more than a few direct hits - but the main deterrent I'd be concerned about is that it's got a metal frame, so you'll most likely shred/bruise up your knuckles if you start swinging on it. I say go for it, tbh. You can use the break from gaming while your hands heal to think about why you have to hit things when you're angry.

Is the two-toned color of the keys distracting at all when they aren't lit up?

I guess that probably depends on how you look at it... The top half of the keys are black and the bottom halves are a cloudy white color, I don't find them distracting at all but I'm not usually looking at the keyboard when I type. I think the keys are far more distracting when they are lit up.
