I seldom write reviews but this is a brilliant bit of kit. I was using the single use filters in a plastic one of these and feeling bad about doing so, so invested in this as a more sustainable alternative.First thing - the coffee from this is so much better than with a paper filter, or a cafetière. It's easier to wash too. And last but not least, it looks really good. I've been using it for one mug but you could easily use it for a medium size jug of coffee. If you are sick of faffing around with coffee at home this is for you.Also - arrived the next day! What more could you want?

Does what is says! I pour boiling water into a mug to warm it, then pour this water into a jug which I then use to make the actual drink. Most important step is warming the filter by pouring hot water through it, otherwise your drink loses heat much quicker. Place filter over mug, one decent scoop of coffee goes in, then the just-off-the-boil water from the jug is poured over slowly. Yes, as others have said there will still be a fine sediment at the bottom of your brew, but it’s much better than with my old cafetière and much easier to clean. I let it cool, knock the grounds out over the bin, then rinse it under the tap. It goes in dishwasher every 4 or 5 days. Hope that helps!

I know the point of this is that you don't have to use filters, but I found it kind of hard to clean as the coffee grounds stick to the side, and tapping the side to dislodge them dents it a bit. But with a filter, it's awesome and so much faster than the plastic ones with the single hole at the bottom.

I bought this so we didn't keep having to buy filter papers for our plastic coffee filter. It's pleasing to look at, modern and works well but for a few issues. Unlike filter papers it lets through a very fine sludge which remain at the bottom of the cup. If you're used to Turkish coffee you'll know what I mean. I don't mind it but my husband doesn't like it. We're going to try grinding our own beans and hope that a coarser mix might work better. I like the fact that it's metal and will last a long time and I don't have to buy or through away filter papers. It's easy to tap out the coffee and rinse.

It's not so easy to find a reusable coffee filter in the shops these days. Filtered freshly ground coffee is the healthiest way to have it apparently. The filter is of reasonable quality and filters well quite easy to clean and if treated well eg was out sooner rather than later, will mot block. Very happy with this purchase
