Lowa Uplander
1st pair of Lowa boots. I purchased to replace a pair of "waterproof" Keens who's waterproof membrane failed. Firstly, the Lowa Uplander cost about $150 more than the Keens I had and the quality of the product shows. All seams are very well stitched, no excessive threads and the boot was amazingly comfortable right out of the box, although they are quite stiff in the ankle area due to the almost full leather upper. The boot itself is built on a last that is fairly narrow. I need a narrow boot and the Lowas are quite a bit more narrow than the Keens I had so it allows me to get a size that is a bit longer and gives my toes a bit more room. Even with the forefoot being quite stiff in the upper due again to the full leather, the fit keeps the foot from sliding forward on steep descents.I took the boots out for a test hike (just 8 1/2 miles) pretty much straight out of the box. The only thing I did was replace the insoles with a pair of moldable "Sole" brand insoles and then headed out.For a pair of Gore-tex leather boots they were very comfortable in the 90° with 70% humidity day. Feet were not swampy at all.The boots gave me only MINOR hot spots, top of right heal and side of right small toe. Both very minor and since they were pretty much straight out of the box, I expected more! The boots are very stable as far as ankle support. They don't offer the support a true backpacking boot would but they have more support than a combat style boot and way more than a 6 or 8" light hiker. The grip was very good from the sole. The compound seems a bit harder than the Lowa Zephyr but softer than a mountain boot. All around I feel that these will fit the bill for what was looking for: a waterproof, supportive, durable boot for fall and winter hiking, camping and hunting that will last a few years.

Very comfy!
I also own Lowa Renegade GTX boots, and these Uplander boots fit exactly the same. I have a bit of a high arch, wide forefoot, and narrow heel, and I'm fussy about getting a good fit. I take a size 8 street shoe, but I prefer thick socks with hiking boots so a size 8.5 is a perfect fit in both Lowa models for me. These are obviously taller than the Renegades, and I'm hoping that means they're more waterproof, but haven't tested that yet. They seem to have about the same amount of insulation as Renegades, so winter use probably requires high-quality wool socks and sock liners. As far as durability, my Renegades have been wearing like iron, and I expect the Uplanders will as well.

Light, high quality molded hunting boots.
Crazy light weight, superb construction for the price. Fits normal, but with a slightly more narrow heel. I am typically an 11.5D or 12C, and boots usually are too wide for me. I bought these in 11.5, added a low profile insert, and laced loose on top to accommodate my high arch, and these have been great.I tried Crispis, Danners, Kennetreks, Meindls, etc., and I thought these easily exceeded the Danners and Meindls, and were on par with the Crispis. They are made in Eastern Europe by the way . . . Slovenia if I recall correctly. Not sure I could go back to heavy traditional upland hunting boots again.

Amazing fit, but no longevity
The Good:The fit for these boots far exceeded expectations. They are extremely comfortable and broke in with ease. These are absolutely the most comfortable pair of boots I’ve ever worn. That being said…The Bad:I had these shipped to Afghanistan shortly after I deployed here in October. I mainly stay on the FOB and average about 3-4 miles per day walking back and forth from my workplace to living space and anywhere in between. I’ve taken them through mud, gravel and dust, but nothing I would consider too extreme. After about three months the suede creased and cracked on my right boot and the finger loop ripped off my left boot. I’ve fixed the finger loop with Crazy Glue, but the new drain hole in my right boot is a different story. These boots are great for repeated use on tile floor or sidewalks, but don’t stand up very well to additional forms of abuse. At almost 300 bucks a pair you will need to decide if the comfort outweighs the durability and maintenance regime.

Lowa Uplander Boot - Great!
As a long-time upland bird hunter, the Lowa Uplander is the best of its type among many other famous brands I have worn. Great fit, comfort and support. Rugged, but lightweight and waterproof. The added height is great ankle support for the mixed terrain here in Montana. I am also an ex-army infantry soldier and can say that the reviewed problems experienced by the soldier in Afghanistan would not have happened if the same maintenance attention was given his Lowa boots as is required for weapons.

Just what I was looking for.
Really nice pair of boots. Light weight and well built. Perfect for northern Minnesota grouse hunting. Boots are made in Slovenia, not Germany as advertised. They run a little bit bigger in their sizing, no problem really, just wore thicker socks.

Best Boots Ever!
I received these boots on a Friday before I went hunting. I wore them around the house for a few hours and they fit perfect. The next 2 days I walk a total of 12 hours hunting pheasants. The boots were lighter than my old boots, great ankle support and my feet weren't tired at the end of the day.I would highly recommed Lowa Boots to my friends.

Sometimes a 10 fits good and sometimes a 10
Kind of early to rate them although the quality is evident. I found the 10.5 to be just a little large but this is not unique to these boots. Sometimes a 10 fits good and sometimes a 10.5 is a tad snug with anything but the thinnest docks. With Smart Wool hunting socks they fit perfectly.
