Best for maintaining, and dogs LOVE the taste
Like other reviews have stated, dogs really like the taste of this stuff. Thatโs half the battle ;-) I adopted a nine year old dachshund who appeared to have never seen a vet aside from obvious signs of previous pregnancy and a spray scar. Dachshund teeth are notoriously bad and her teeth were... green. They were rotting in her poor mouth. There is no product on the planet that can fix that aside from a professional dental cleaning from a vet. She had to have three teeth removed, which is not as bad as I thought it would be. Back to this product... I add 1/4 teaspoon to her food twice a day, which is the recommended amount based on her weight. In the four months before her dental, this really improved her breath and plaque. There was no change in the amount of tartar, but there was less swelling in her gums. Based on this, I think itโs a great product for maintaining your petโs oral health, but it wonโt reverse years of periodontal disease, nor will it have any significant impact on tartar. Iโve bought water additives, sprays and gels for her, but they either havenโt worked or she wouldnโt tolerate them. I havenโt come across a product that is this effective, this easy to administer, and one that she clearly enjoys besides this. Of course, brushing is the best possible option, but my old girl has been through a lot and Iโm not going to wrestle her and put her through regular brushing at this point. I realize that this is very expensive if you have a large dog. But if it can prevent a $900 vet bill, or turn that $900 cleaning to a $500 one, it might be worth it. After reading the reviews, Iโm glad to see other vets recommending this product. Consumer confidence is always nice.

It actually works!
I have three senior Labs, and their breath had gotten pretty overwhelming. Because of their age, Iโm hesitant to put them under anesthesia for dental cleanings, so I decided to try this dental powder. I honestly didnโt expect much โ Iโve always assumed these types of products were more hype than results. I was genuinely surprised. After about a week, I noticed their breath improving and the buildup on their teeth looking lighter. A few days later, I realized that when I brushed (or attempted to โ theyโre not exactly cooperative) or even gently scraped a bit with my fingernail, the buildup actually flaked off. Iโve been using it consistently ever since. I skipped a week while I was away, and when I got homeโฆ the breath situation reminded me why I wonโt miss a day again. I also appreciate that it comes in a larger size, which is much more costโeffective when you have three big dogs. I definitely recommend this product.

Works for bad.
Have been using this on my small dachshunds for about a year now. Iโm on my second bottle! It works for bad breath. When used consistently my dogs breath does not smell bad. I will say, it will not fully clean or keep plaque off if the dog already has dental issues. My oldest is going to be 14, she has had most of her teeth removed but we use this in between the cleanings and removals with the vet. I canโt brush them because her gums are sensitive. Also, once a dog has dental disease it is almost impossible to get rid of if you canโt keep up with consistent brushing, this does help to remove some bacteria and smell though

Good
I got this for my cat who has signs of gingivitis. These supplements, brushing, and toothpaste, have absolutely made a positive impact on his teeth. He does not mind the addition of this to his food, he didnโt seem to notice. Its worth a try

Toxic for small dogs or cats!!
Vetriscience is a 40 year old company that I typically trust. I purchased this for my 3-lb Pomeranian to use alongside the 1-TDC gel caps and daily brushing. However, I would not recommend using it for cats or very small dogs. The dosing can be tricky, and their smaller size makes them more vulnerable to potential side effects. If you research โnatural zeolites,โ youโll find they are known for their ability to bind heavy metals such as arsenic and lead. Zeolites are naturally occurring minerals found in volcanic rock formations and marine sedimentary layers. Zeolite is a family of naturally occurring (and sometimes synthetic) microporous aluminosilicate minerals that act as ion-exchange adsorbents. Common types include clinoptilolite, chabazite, mordenite, analcime, erionite, ferrierite, heulandite, laumontite, and phillipsite. This product is typically sprinkled onto food, but since dogs often sniff their meals before eating, there is a real concern about inhalation. In powdered form, zeolite can become airborne, and inhaling mineral dust may irritate the lungs. While not all zeolites are harmful, some forms like erionite are classified as carcinogens when inhaled, and itโs best to avoid chronic exposure to any fine mineral dust in pets. The term โnaturalโ has become a bit of a marketing buzzword, often implying purity or safety without clear definition. Even โnaturalโ zeolites can bind essential minerals like zinc, copper, and magnesium, potentially leading to nutrient deficiencies and placing extra stress on the kidneys over time. This could be particularly harmful in small breeds or pets with pre-existing kidney issues. While zeolites can help break down bacterial biofilms, such as those that cause plaque, I believe VetriScience could have opted for a less risky ingredient in a product intended for daily use. The mineral-binding properties are a double-edged sword: potentially beneficial for detox or oral health, but not without risksโespecially for tiny dogs whose liver may not tolerate this.

Not all pets love this.
While it may be a great product. ALL my pets would not eat their food with this in it. Tried it on dogs and cats. Even just a sprinkle to get them used to it in the food didn't work in this house. It does have a pretty pungent smell. It was worth a try.

Easy dental care for dogs
This has really made a difference in the amount of tartare on my dogs teeth. They donโt mind it added to their food so itโs easy to give. As I have several dogs I am especially happy to be able to order a larger size container so I donโt have to reorder as often!

Excellent Product
I love this product. I read somewhere that it helps stop the tear stains in white dogs so as I have a Maltese, I decided to try it. I think it works by killing the bacteria that causes the staining. It worked very well and I sent for more. Highly recommended.
