A great little headphone amplifier
Yes, this Douk Audio U3 really does deserve the five stars.Because my headphones are 150ohm, my PC doesn't have enough grunt to power them properly so I needed an amplifier to do the job. I ordered one which seemed popular but when I tried it there was virtually no amplification on my headphones (I left a review on that one to say as much). After careful consideration I then ordered this Douk Audio U3. It looks great and it certainly works great. It powers my headphones with lots of power to spare and it sounds great as well. The on-off switch is noiseless, by which I mean that you hear nothing through your headphones when you switch on or off. It is certainly a keeper!A word of advice, if you are using the U3 with your PC, don't plug the USB into your computer to power it, you will get noise. I had a power supply and plugged it into the 6 way socket which powers my computer , monitor etc. the noise instantly vanished and the U3 performed perfectly with no background noise at all.edit .. to add that the power supply I am using is a stabilised 12v 1.5A output. I would recommend using any stabilised (can be used on audio equipment) power supply which has an output voltage of 12v and 1A or over (can be up to 5A with no problem).Need a headphone amp? buy this one, from my experience so far, you won't be dissapointed.

Works perfect with DT 990 Pros
Perfect for GT 990 Pros (250 Ohm), however needs sufficient power from a 5V output plug to avoid background hiss.If using with a Audio Mixer like the Fifine SC3, simply connect a RCA to 3.5MM cable to the DOUK U3 L/R Input and the Line Out on the Mixer. Recommend to use a good quality RCA to 3.5MM cable, I'm using a UGREEN cable with it.

Ideal companion for a cheap digital piano
I have a Korg C1 Air and while the keyboard feeling is very realistic and the sound banks are pretty good, the embedded amplifier is disgusting and vile, with an annoying hiss and hum that makes playing literally impossible. With this cheap and compact device I can bypass the embedded amplifier and draw the sound from Line Out before the piano's amplifier can butcher it. I turned a 700£ digital piano into a 1500£ digital piano as far as sound goes.

Schiit magni killer!
I have used this little amp for around 2 months now waiting for any initial burn in to settle in.I have purchased and used many headphone amps over the past 3 years, I've had the likes of JDS Atom, Schiit magni, If Zen, Rega etc and this little £40 box of marvels performs incredibly well not just for it's price but compared to amps much more expensive.OK it's a no frills design with basic volume control that has a nice notched movement 6.4mm standard headphone jack and RCA outs on the back panel along with a tactile power switch. This tiny amp is powerful and produces a warm clear sound , pushes decent amounts of detail out.I do recommend upgrading the power source and not to use the included USB powered lead supplied. Most power adaptors will work with this as it has a wide power range from 5 to 20v so play around to see what sounds best for you. Finally you can change the internal op amp as it is of the socketed variety so easy to switch out with no soldering skills required.Easily performs as good if not better than my previously used Atom and Magni.Recommended!!!

Great little amp.
Decent little amp for the price, gets the job done and is perfectly capable of running my 250 ohm DT 990 pros. Would recommend if you’re looking for a simple amplifier that takes up very little desk space.

Wow it’s cheap!
I bought this for just over £30 and it’s a bargain, reasonably well made and drives my 250ohm headphones just fine. I use it for listening to various audio sources such as vinyl, cd’s and also from my dac with a line out. It gives me enough volume for all types of music. It would probably benefit from a burn in period as at present it doesn’t sound as refined or as nice as my much more expensive ifi nano dac amp but I will give it time. It takes a power supply voltage from 5v up to 20v so a good powerful, clean supply should also improve the sound. As it is it’s fine for the money, you need to feed it with a line level audio signal and an external dac from your computer, tablet or phone will also improve your listening experience. Like most stuff it’s gone up in price recently but still a good introduction to Hifi headphone listening.
