MBQUART DK1-116 Maxxsonics Discus Tweeter Kit, Set of 2

Great coax 6 1/2. Has more midbass than I remembered from the older MB Quart coax's. Not quite the perfect speaker, but pretty darn good, for the price.

Purchased two pair of these in Aug/Sept of 2020. Had to replace 2 of them by March of 2021 because the ribbed material (I believe it's called the spider) that attaches the voice coil to the magnet separated from the metal on BOTH speakers. It's a factory stereo so it wasn't misuse by the user. Hope these hold up.

Been an MB Quart fan for years, and was amazed by the price. Best bang for your buck! The sound quality is amazing.

I bought these to replace stock front Bose speakers and tweeters in 1999 Silverado 1500 powered by 14W RMS Pioneer MVH-X390BT.Now I understand that this is not a "real" "old school" MB Quart, but for the price paid speakers are great. Bass is softer than boomy stock speakers and there is actually bass comparing to Polk DB651 (returned) powered by the head unit only. Tweeters are not harsh. I'd say speakers have rather "rounded" sound. Again, you get more than you pay sound wise. Definitely better than similarly priced Pioneers or Kenwoods or whatever.Quality control is not that great though. You can see that speakers are Made in China on a budget. Paint job, glue streaks etc. I ordered 2 sets, one set was great, in another one both speakers had plastic tweeter pods loose so I am returning it. This does not affect the "sound quality" though.Fitment in the Silverado front door was perfect. I attached them straight to the sheet metal without any gaps on the sides.Just a caution, the speaker's cage is rather wide, so none of the 6.5 adapters I had fit. The cut-out has to be pretty large, I assume outside diameter minus 1/4 in.The head unit distorts at the volume over 45-50 (is 60 the highest?) with loudness set at low, SLA+4 which is not a surprise. So at some point I will get that little Alpine PowerPack Amp to give head unit a break.Minus 1 star for factory quality control.

thanks, speakers rock. having rubber surround will take about 40 hours of use to break in but just running off my stock Kenwood 262 head unit they sound 100% better than the stock door speakers in my GMC 2004 HD2500. They are very clear and only running off 50w/22rms a channel head unit. I have used MB Quart in the past but used component before so I am very happy with the performance of these 2 way model.
