CEV Easy Reading Bible Hardcover – 1 Jun. 2000

Was looking for this Bible for a while so glad I've found one 🙏🏽

I have read more than a dozen excellent translations but the Contemporary English Version is one of the most readable for me.I would urge you to buy this translation if you find it difficult to understand the Bible. It's so readable that you will have several aha! moments. For example, John 11 v 25 in NKJV quotes Jesus as saying, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live." But in the CEV, it reads: " I am the one who raises the dead to life! Everyone who has faith in me will live, even if they die. "Another instance is Hebrews 13 v 4 in NKJV reads: "Marriage is honourable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge." But in the CEV, it reads: " Have respect for marriage. Always be faithful to your partner, because God will punish anyone who is immoral or unfaithful in marriage. "I have enjoyed it so much that I've bought one for my son. May God bless you as you read and make His Word your way of life!

I turn to this translation at the end of a long day, when I need simple modern English if I'm to take anything in! A great source of comparison for harder passages - for example I will often read the ESV and get a bit confused and unsure of how to interpret the language, so I turn to this version and get an insight into a possible interpretation. I am not sure I always agree with all of the translations, but it serves a very useful purpose in being a source of comparison.LOVE the big font size. Really easy to read, and contains lots of subheadings to break up and clarify what's happening where. The paperback cover makes it a bit floppy to handle (it is quite a fat book). The pages themselves are not too thin and not like tissue paper, but more like normal wood pulp paper, which overall makes the book quite sturdy.

Im more used to the KJV but this is an excellent easy to read and easy to understand rendition.Worthwhile.

This is a very good translation which has been put together especially so that it flows well when read aloud. The Kindle version is straightforward to navigate. A good addition for Bible Study. Could be a good version to give someone who finds traditional versions difficult. I chose it because this translation is often referred to in my Bible notes/ readings and I have found it a useful alternative translation.

So pleased to get another hard copy of this wonderful basic Bible, we use them at our Bible Study Group but it is not easy to get hold of in the UK.Very quick delivery from the USA. I totally recommend this Bible for those attending Bible Study Groups as it is very easy to understand for newcomers to the Bible.

I find it comfortable to hold. The clear printing makes it easy to read even with my troublesome eyesight.It is well set out, encouraging me not only to start reading but to also to continue even beyond my intended portion.
