Graphic Design Solutions is the most comprehensive, how-to reference on graphic design and typography. Covering print and interactive media, this book examines conceiving, visualizing and composing solutions to design problems, such as branding, logos, web design, posters, book covers, advertising, and more. Excellent illustrations of historical, modern and contemporary design are integrated throughout. The Fifth Edition includes expanded and updated coverage of screen media, including mobile, tablet, desktop web, and motion as well as new interviews, showcases, and case studies; new diagrams and illustrations; a broader investigation of creativity and concept generation; visualization and color; and an updated timeline. Accompanying this edition, CourseMate with eBook brings concepts to life with projects, videos of designers in the field, and portfolio-building tools. Additional online-only chapters?Chapters 14 through 16--are available in PDF format on the student and instructor resource sites for this title, accessed via CengageBrain.com; search for this book, then click on the ?Free Materials? tab. Review: Why do design books always use illegible typography ? - I have an Ebook version and whereas the information contained seems pretty comprehensive, I feel compelled to complain about the layout. I've read several design related books and they always seem to favour a clever layout and fancy text formatting over legibility ! OK so minuscule grey text may look nicer, but there is a reason why no one except for designers would get away with using it for main copy. Also the pages are formatted to have masses of free empty space which is may look nice, but on my 10.5" tab is frankly quite annoying . The 'free online chapters' are only free once you figure out to use google to find them, I searched on the chapter titles which yielded direct links to the pdf files. Review: Super expensive book with 3 online chapters that are just plain pdf that publisher won't print - This book has indeed a good amount of knowledge in its pages, and it's worth reading. It has indeed some obvious design pitfalls that are simply not acceptable in a book that explain how to design. Sometimes pages are completely unreadable. Negative text set up in a little italic thin face. Pages out of register of 3 mm, bad choice of background foreground combination and so on. Not least, the publisher didn't print 3 chapters. These are just plain pdf you are supposed to print by yourself in 4 full color. They are online chapter just because you are supposed to download it. Very bad thing. Read it in a library.

accurate to description, maybe even better!
It's seriously like the book was never even opened!? The cover has no creases so I'm pretty sure this book hasn't even been used?! Perfect condition, no marks or highlights, nothing?! AND I got it for an amazing price which saved me a ton of money! I'm an online college student with a 7.5 week course, pretty crazy that we have to spend $100's of dollars on books for such a short amount of time but WHOO HOO this was BEST deal EVER!

Learned a lot, loved the info and layout of the book.
Informative and visual. I enjoyed my graphic communications class and the information this textbook had to offer. Highly recommend, not difficult to follow.

Textbook for Graphic Arts Class Laney College Oakland CA
The instructor declared that this text will be used for the advanced graphic arts classes in creative solutions in graphic arts. There were only one or two chapters assigned this semester. It is useful, but I wouldn't have bought it except for the class. Hope that I et to use it for the next two classes to amortize the high price of the book.

Purchased used but seems like new!
I purchased this textbook for a graphic design class I'm taking and saw this available in "used" condition. The book arrived with very minor cosmetic signs of use on the back cover, but otherwise, this is in almost brand new condition! very pleased with the seller.
