FABULOUS and Different!
I have been looking for something a bit different than the typical mail box for improvements I am making on my home. This was it! It is gorgeous, sturdy, secure and gets TONS of raves. My mail lady LOVES it! It was VERY easy to put together as long as you follow directions. The only problem I had was I did not read the FIRST and crucial direction which is to make your cement base first and to use the base metal piece as your template for putting in grounding screws. It was MY fault, not theirs I did that. In short, I LOVE this mail box and highly recommend it to anyone who wants something very different and classy. As with all "things" you put together, READ THE DIRECTIONS. It really saves lots of frustrating time.

Pedestal mailbox
Overall I am satisfied with the mailbox. It looks good. at least for now, we'll see how it weathers and will provide an update if necessary. It was easy to assemble, but I had to re-assemble the box itself because it wasn't assembled properly at the factory. The front of the mailbox wasn't seated in the groves on the sides and bottom of the box, but it wasn't difficult to fix. However, I did use larger stainless steel bolts to fasten to the concrete pad I made to set it on. It is solid and stable. So far I have had no water inside, but is partially under roof overhang. But there has been some pretty severe storms and no water. They use rubber seals now in the top of box. The keys are no longer locked inside the box as some have reported. They are now zip tied to the spring clip inside the mail door.

purchased for security but looks nice beside black iron fence
The box arrived in fine condition and was easy to assemble. Be prepared to create a solid cement pad with some depth. We added a wire screen cut to fit inside the bottom of the box to keep insects from entering and surprising us. Delivered mail is kept secure and dry. The box looks good beside our black iron fence. Small hands can reach into the slot, but it seems unlikely that mail could be extracted. This is a design dilemma because the slot needs to be large enough to accommodate bulky mail. Biggest surprise is the capacity. Box is roomy and will hold accumulated mail. Mail carrier loved it and told a neighbor she should look at ours when she said she was worried about security. Be advised, outgoing mail is not secure.

Very NIce new Mailbox
It came quickly and in very good condition. It is sturdy and even though I did not put it in myself , It looked easy . :)I expect it to last a good long while , and that it will keep our mail safe and dry.The seller gets 5 stars too!!!I had by mistake left a comment on them , meant for another seller( an electric toothbrush) ...I told them I would fix it as soon as i figure out how!!!! I felt BAD because they responded immediately wondering what they had done wrong, so apologies to them.!!!! THEY WERE GREAT!

LOUSY PRODUCT
Very disappointing mailbox. After a thorough search of locking mailboxes, and other good reviews, I thought I was getting a good value. This box is crappy: Poor instructions, very small (1/4" bolts) to attach in the concrete; side where the lock is was broken requiring repair, pins to hold the front postman's pull down door were missing, requiring a search to find replacements, no cover for the nuts at bottom attaching to concrete bolts, and on and on. It also has cast aluminum panels on the box which are modular in stead of a contiguous casting, making it very easy to break in.I would not buy this product again or any made by Gibraltar.

Great mailbox with a few needed modifications for security.
This mailbox replaced an older one just like it. They were doing cement work on my sidewalk and a cement truck took out the box.As far as build goes, the two holes on the box for the top finniel were misaligned and had to be drilled out in order for the screws to meet the finniel. In addition, one of the holes on the finniel was filed with black paint.Consider doing two things to increase the security of the box:1. The opening for the postal carrier is way too large and easy to get a small hand or some sort of tongs inside to take the mail. We had someone do just that very thing. A piece of two inch aluminum held to the box with JB Weld fixed that problem. The L-shaped bolts for holding the post to the ground are garbage. Get larger ones if you are mounting to a fresh pour or use larger anchor bolts if mounting to an existing slab or sidewalk. If you don't own an impact drill for the latter, you can rent one from Home Depot for cheap. Once mounted to a slab or sidewalk, consider stripping or otherwise compromising the threads that protrude from over the top of the nut. Otherwise, the whole assembly can be stolen in a matter of seconds if the thief uses a battery drill or impact gun with a socket attached.

A locked mailbox is great to have.
This mailbox was accurately described online and there weren't any big surprises. It came with all the parts and everything fit together. The concrete base took a little while to prepare. It hasn't weathered any storms but I can see that it may need some caulk to make it more water proof. Having this mailbox keeps me from placing the mail on hold when I'm out of town.

A good sturdy mailbox that will last for many years with a little bit of maintenance
I purchased this mailbox 3.5 years ago. It arrived damaged but was replaced in 4 days. Amazon does stand behind their products! Yes it can leak in heavy rain but caulking remedies that. After 3.5 years with the heat of the CA sun this summer it began to wobble quite severely. The solution is to take it apart and tighten everything up again as metal expanding and contracting repeatedly can cause this. People comment that it is not really secure and that is true because the mail person has to be able to deposit your mail and small packages through the slot. They don't have a key for everyones personal mailbox! And yes someone with a thin enough wrist can reach in and grab at mail but this is less likely to happen then with a typical mailbox. Overall this is a good buy and has worked for me very well over 3.5 years. Far better than the mailbox on a wooden post that I used to have.
