Believe the reviews this product is a real crap shoot
so I ordered this item because i had to have dual monitors for work and the original pc I had, had a HDMI to VGA. This was all fine and dandy until I bought another PC online to make it my gaming computer and I wanted to use my dual monitors still. So to amazon i go right, I ordered this one as there are mixed reviews, some people had great experiences some had probs right out the gate. For one yes, make sure u have 3.0 USB ports, I do so that's not my issue. My issue is how I had it for a month and it quit working. No problem ill have an exchange done .That all went great, until a few months ago with the item was acting up. I would log on and my second monitor would shut off. Weird I know, so I would wiggle the cord and it would work. No it was not my usb port I plugged other things into them and no problem. Whatevs i dealt with it because if i propped it just right ( yes like that one phone charger u have that if u bend it the right way it will work) I had no problems whatsoever. Until today, its been a few weeks (ok maybe a month-ish) since I turned my computer on, and i turned it on because i wanted to do some research on a case (don't judge I'm into true crime and this case is very odd and mysterious) and was excited to do it on my pc because I could research in one screen and type up a document in the other.Except that the cord had taken a total crap on me, wont work no matter what. I thought the monitor when out so I plugged it into the VGA Port and its fine so yeah cool imma have to order a new cord, probably not from this company ill try another. ill eventually upgrade my graphics card so I can use my HDMI adapter which was the tits and never gave me an issue. I mean all and all this was an ok product but its a real crap shoot on if it will work for you, maybe spend a little more to get something of better quality, or not the choice is up to you. As this was a temporary option for me I'm not too mad. but at the same time I wanted to warn those that this is a 50/50 shot as if this will work. If you like them odds, go for it. otherwise move along and get something better.I gave it 3 stars because the customer service aspect was good. Plus i wanted this review to be seen so i figured 3 stars would get it seen better. otherwise i would honestly give it 1 and a half or 2.

Worth it
Other adapters on amazon had high prices or drivers that gave customers malware. Even if this product has some bad ratings, I decided to take a chance. Maybe people did it wrong? Also, Reddit threads show that company that provides the drivers is reputable and the drivers for this product don't infect your computer. This product came in a small package with instructions and a small disk. The instructions are straight forward. Download the driver online with the given link or utilize the cd. Click download. Once download is finished, click it to open the file. Then follow the directions. It should take no more than 2 minutes. If you have an unused HDMI slot, you can also get a VGA to HDMI instead of this product. For VGA to HDMI, you will not need to install a driver. If this product doesn't work for you, there are a few reasons why that might be.If the display does not turn on, make sure you installed the correct driver. If you are running windows, install the driver for windows. If you are running Mac, install the driver for Mac. If you do not know much about computers, open the driver (like you're opening the file) and follow the directions. Just keep hitting "Next" until you see an "Install" button. DO NOT DELETE THE .exe FILE. Also, make sure the cable fits snugly into the ports of the monitor and the laptop. Make sure its plugged in.If the picture quality is bad, make sure you're plugging this into a USB 3.0 slot. USB 2.0 looks exactly the same, but they are not the same. If you're not sure the port is USB 3.0, google your computer model and find out. Or, USB 3.0 ports look blue inside the port. Check it out. If you're plugging this cable into a USB 2.0, that might be why your screen quality is bad.Let's assume you plugged it into a 3.0 port. (INSTRUCTIONS FOR WINDOWS 10) If the screen quality is distorted, open your settings. Click the top left icon which is for System Settings. Then the first option is display settings. Click that. If you successfully have more than one monitor being used as a display, at the top, you will see the different monitors being used. Click the other monitor to change that monitor's display settings. There should be an option called Resolution. Click that and it should open a drop-down menu. One of those menu items might say Recommended. Click that. If you don't see a recommended resolution, just click each option one by one and see if any of them work.

Flickers
Does what is says, requires driver instillation but that doesn't really bother me. What bothers me is that it flickers every 10 seconds, tested it out on two monitors, two different VGA cables and 2 USB ports and it does the same thing. Very annoying but hey, it works .

It works!
I have a work laptop that uses a docking station. It is an older model and the docking station only has a single VGA port. No display port. No DVI. No HDMI. However, it does have a single USB 3.0 port. My work is difficult on a single monitor so I decided to try this. My IT guy was skeptical, but promised to get the drivers from the website indicated by the product installed for me (I don't have admin rights on the computer) if I purchased it. It worked. Check the picture. One monitor is on the docking station's VGA port and one is on the docking station's USB 3.0 port. Can you tell which one? No. They're Identical. There is a slight delay in the USB monitor waking up, but that's it. No other noticeable issues. Nothing that differentiates the 2. Yes, without the drivers or without a 3.0 port, this will not give you the resolution you need. That is stated from the beginning. It works, though.

Tossed it in the trash
When we tried to use this on a second monitor, the resolution was too big to be useful. Adjusting the display resolution, sizing etc. did not work, everything remained too large. Tried moving this to another display with the same result. Thew it away, pretty useless.
