Sign O The Times

Some time ago I had seen this CD of Prince "Sign O The Times", it is my favorite Prince album, I wanted to have it and listen to it, I bought it and the sound quality is not bad because the previous version sounded very low, this remastered version is very good. my favorite topics: Sign O The Times, U got the look, Play in the sunshine, Hot thing, Forever in my life, I could never take the place of your man, If I was your girlfriend the product arrived in good sealed condition. Easily the best album of the 80s. I own the digital version of this but I had to have it on a physical copy. They did a very good job remastering this and the packaging is great. I don’t know how they can justify the cost of the box set. This is the sweet spot.

Perfection! I had already spent $158 on the deluxe cd box set, and love it- but it’s so big, heavy and clunky, I found myself wanting this more standard 3-disc version too. (It looks great on my Prince CD shelf, with all the others, whereas the box set requires special storage.) See pics if you’re curious about the packaging. It’s beautiful! The kind of pics & enhanced artwork that has been sorely lacking in the original cd for 30-some years. The remastering is flawless- it’s louder, crisper, and bass-ier. The 3rd disc of singles is a great addition, if your old vinyl singles are not in great shape these days. If you’re a collector, you need this version! If you can’t let go of $160 for the box set, this is a much more affordable option.

One of the GREATEST deluxe edition from the Prince collection, I really enjoy hearing the master at work, this is pure genius at it’s finest.

This is one of 2 Prince releases that I would put in the list of "all time greatest albums" (the other being the perfect "Purple Rain"). So many GREAT songs on this album and the remastering is very good. (about time, now where is the remastering for "Controversy"?) Some of his best songs are on here "Sign o the Times", "I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man", "Strange Relationship", " It", "Housequake" and "The Cross". The only thing that stopped this release from being a 5 star is the inclusion of "Its Gonna be a Beautiful Night" and "Adore". The former is like 10 minutes of repetitious music with no payoff. Boring. And "Adore" reminds me of those cheesy early 70's soul ballads. Those two songs aside, its a wonderful album.

I must have missed Sign of the Times when it first came out, was moving house, job and country all in one. This remaster is absolutely outstanding and contains everything that was unique about Prince ... funk, soul, jazz, blues, electronica ... it's all in there for your delight !!!

Right! this is not really going to be about the sound quality of this excellent remastered edition Prince’s Magnus Opus. It’s going to be about the packaging. Whilst the deluxe edition that I’ve purchased does look utterly gorgeous. And it clearly does. I’ve found that I’ve firstly had to move a few of the CD’s around in where they’ve been put by Warners. Due to me getting easier access to the two discs that I bought the album for. Which is Side One and Side Two of this epic album. Disc three I will play, but I’ve prominently bought the album for the main two discs, haven't we ALL, I would hope. The slips where the CD’s are held are very tight, like many digipak CD’s (it’s definitely a common problem I find) I suggest you spend a little time continuing to pull the CD’s in and out of the package to gain easier access to the discs. You shouldn’t really have to carry out this practice, but unfortunately that’s my little tip to make getting the discs easier to slip in and out of their compartments on this particular package. On the sound of the remaster, if you’ve purchased the other two Warner releases in these remastered editions of Prince’s back catalogue, that being Purple Rain and 1999, then you’ll definitely know what you’ll getting. Can I say the sound to my ears anyway, this remaster does thankfully sound a lot, lot crisper, particularly concerning the bass and tremble which do sound like where they should be. My older copy of Sign O’ The Times always sound incredibly dull and lifeless and just without life. Fortunately with this release the album is finally given sonically the treatment that it fully deserves. So five stars for the album definitely and probably four stars at a push for the actual ease of getting the discs in and out of the slips where they are kept.

Prince - Sign O’ The Times (Deluxe Edition 3CD) – 25.09.20 146,99€ für die Super Deluxe Edition mit 8 CD‘s und einer DVD! Geht’s noch? Und das für Aufnahmen, die schon lange existent sind. Hier gab es kaum Aufwand für die Neugestaltung etc. Und dann verlangt man einen dermaßen überzogenen Preis! Ich finde das unverschämt. Klar, die Raritäten in der Super Deluxe Edition haben es absolut in sich und ich hätte das gerne in meiner Sammlung. Aber aus Prinzip unterstütze ich so eine offensichtliche Abzocke nicht. Um die 60€ wären angemessen gewesen aber fast 150€? Da stimmt für mich das Preis-/ Leistungsverhältnis nicht. Die Erbengemeinschaft will sich wohl noch einmal kräftig bereichern, zu Lasten von Prince, der sich bei dieser Preispolitik wohl selbst im Grab umdrehen würde (R.I.P.). CD 1+2 enthalten die remasterten Versionen der Songs. CD3 enthält „Single Mixes und Edits“. Die Super Deluxe Edition ist identisch bis CD3. Ab Disk vier kommen aber echte Knaller. Insgesamt 92 Songs sind als Bonus enthalten, die Prince im Zeitraum von 1979 bis 1987 aufnahm. 45 von diesen waren zuvor unveröffentlichte Studioversionen, von denen Prince einige für ein Doppelalbum namens „Dream Factory“ geschrieben hatte. Diese 45 Songs sind auf den CD’s 4/5/6 enthalten. Disc 7 und 8 enthalten das Live Konzert „Live in Utrecht“ aus der gleichnamigen Tour. Die DVD enthält das Konzert am 31. Dezember 1987 in Prince’ Paisley Park Studio in Chanhassen, bei dem Miles Davis als musikalischer Gast auftritt. SIGN O‘ THE TIMES erschien ursprünglich 1987 als Doppel-CD/LP. Die zwei bekanntesten Hits waren der Titeltrack und U GOT THE LOOK. Das Album selbst habe ich bisher nicht in meiner Sammlung und mir daher nur die 3CD Version für 15,99€ gekauft. Das muss man sich mal auf der Zunge zergehen lassen: 3CD für 15,99 und 9 Discs für 147,99€. Raritäten hin oder her. Das ist preislich jenseits von Gut und Böse. Vielleicht wird das große Package irgendwann mal günstiger. Und wenn nicht, auch gut. Keinesfalls werde ich hier die Gier der Erbengemeinschaft unterstützen. 3CD: Musik 5 Sterne. Preis 9Disc-Package Minus 3 Sterne = in Summe 2 Sterne. So eine Preispolitik ärgert mich maßlos. Die Songs der 8 CD's gibt es auch als mp3-Download für 58,48€. Da fehlt zwar die DVD, wäre aber eine gute und etwas preiswertere Alternative. Wobei das auch etwas zu viel kostet. Genug gemeckert. CD rein und Prince zu seiner besten Zeit anhören.

El mejor disco del mejor Prince en el mejor formato existente, el CD. Sonido brutal. Y un precio aceptable en los tiempos que corren.
