works very well to identify the exact leak location
THis product helped me to DIY a skimmer leak. One of my skimmers had pulled away from the concrete and was leaking water. The previous owner had applied silicone caulk like material to seal it - but it was all coming apart and floating around the skimmer. So I decided to do it right. I removed all the old silicone and identified the exact leak location using this dye kit . The dye is very easy to apply due to the included long tube. Also the dye lingers around for a good long time before it disperses in water. Then I used the pool putty to seal the leak area. I retested with the dye to confirm the water was no longer leaking. The fix was a success and now my water level is maintaining well (except for the acceptable level of evaporation). MY local pool company charges $120 just for every visit and then additional charges to actually fix something. I definitely saved myself several hundred dollars. I just hope this fix lasts a long time. Update: 6/25/19. The fix is holding up great so far. I did loose the thin tube that comes with the dye syringe..so had to order another syringe. Its pretty easy to loose the tube so watch out

Worked perfectly!
Great product! Had a leak in my pool, and thought I would give this a try. In the syringe, it looks very thin, but upon release into the water, it appeared more like a thin gel. Turn off your pool pump before using, and squeeze small amounts out near the areas where you think there is a leak. It is extremely bright, and easy to see under the water, making it easy to watch for a leak. I was able to find my leak, and fixed it. This product performed perfectly!

It works
It works nicely for checking leaks underwater. It holds the dye while underwater, and allows you to squirt it where you want too. The dye itself appears to glow in the water, VERY VERY easy to see. As for finding ANY leak... *shrug* I am still trying to track down our leak, but it isn't because the dye is falling. Just turning into a long drawn out process to find the leak.

Worked great!
I bought this along with a container of additional dye. Definitely get the extra dye as there isn't really a lot in this tube if you have to hunt around for a leak. I had a really hard to find leak in by inground cement pool. It took a couple days of trying but I finally found the leak. Hopefully it's the only one. There are some good video's on YouTube that show what you should expect to see visually when a leak is found. Use just a tiny amount in areas you suspect there may be a leak. If you put too much out it may be difficult to see it getting sucked in before it dissipates I the water. ANd be patient it may take a while to find it. As everyone has said the dye is VERY easy to see and worked perfect for the job. I couldn't have found the leak without it.

Best...stuff.....ever!
I had a leak in my above ground pool and it was starting to cause the dirt below to get green. I was determined to find the pesky hole. I narrowed it down to a few areas and used the dye. Sure enough the tiny hole sucked the dye through and I could see it in the dirt on the outside! Mind you the pool was completely full still. You can’t just put the dye in the pool and miraculously it finds the hole, you need to squirt it right next to the suspicious areas to find the actual hole. A little gorilla tape and voila, no more leak! I had plenty in the syringe included for many more search and patch missions.

There is A Learning Curve You Need To Pay for
The product worked well once I learned how to use it. The FT601 Dye Tester Pre-Filled lacked significant instructions for use. I did not find significant instructions until I had to refill the dye tester. Basically you have to waste the Pre-Filled Dye tester just to find use instructions. Bottom line is I did discover the leaks and was able to repair the weir I was working on.

Excellent product at a great price.
This is an excellent product. Looks like very little dye but you only need minuscule amounts each time you test. Ended up testing all over a large pool and only used 1/3 of the dye. It does not look like a good color in the tube but when you use it underwater it glows green. Can’t miss it even in direct sunlight. Excellent visibility and very easy to use, just squirt a super small amount and watch it move around. If you got a leak it will get sucked in. See video I took testing my pool.

You'll need to order the refill container as well.
As everyone says, you really must buy the refill in addition to this dispenser unless you are really lucky at finding your leak immediately. This picture doesn't really give you an idea of actual size so here's the deal. The filled orange section is almost the exact size of a Chap Stick. No bigger. None of this is bad news though when you consider that a pool company will usually charge you a couple hundred dollars to find your leak and repair it. This kit and a stick of epoxy pool putty can save you a lot of money? The actual product works as advertised.
