Interesting read
Thoroughly enjoyed this book, wasn't sure where it was going at one stage, but definitely didn't see the ending the way it finished, maybe at the very end, Jo didn't......

Good read
It was a little slow in places but I am a slow reader! Overall I really enjoyed the book. The storyline kept me interested although it was a little predictable.

Far-fetched but enjoyable
This is a work of fiction so it’s . . . well it’s fiction. Even so, it stretches the bounds of credibility. If you can suspend your disbelief enough to accept that when surfing through a house sitters site, Jo just happens to alight on a house with photos of her missing husband on the mantelpiece, then give it a go. You’ll find more far-fetched events within the pages but also an intriguing little puzzle. Jo is annoyingly nervy but she’s determined to unearth the truth about Will’s disappearance, which keeps the plot ticking along at a decent pace. Pieces of the puzzle emerge gradually and there were always enough unanswered questions to sustain my interest. The ending was contrived and daft but that’s not unusual in psychological mysteries in my experience, as authors strive to tie up all the disparate threads. This author also included the almost obligatory twist.I didn’t find this book un-put-down-able. It wasn’t the sort of thing that kept me reading past my bedtime. However, it was eminently pick-up-able and I looked forward to resuming the story when I had a free minute or two. It’s worth a read if you like a bit of a mystery, are not going to stress over the details and prepared to suspend your disbelief.

Fantastic
Having read and very much enjoyed Date Night I looked forward to Samanthas latest thriller and wow it was great. I really enjoyed this book, full of twists and turns and for once I didn’t guess the ending instead I was on a completely different track with the main character Jo needing help.I thoroughly recommend this great psychological thriller, devoured in 2 days, buy it and enjoy. Thanks for another great read Samantha.

Not her best but still extremely enjoyable
Enjoyed very much but not quite as much as previous books by this author.Didn’t quite “Bond” with the main character & the ending seemed a little “Rushed”But having said that l have already ordered another of Samantha’s books (so it couldn’t have been that bad) & l seriously need her to get writing as there aren’t many l haven’t read now !!!

Hard to put down
Wow. Usually I read autobiographies but I saw this as a recommendation so thought I would give it a go. I can honestly tell you a book will usually take me about 4 months to read. This one I found hard to put down and read within 2 weeks. I have now ordered more of Samantha Hayes books and I'm really looking forward to them. My autobiography books in my kindle library have been put to the back of the queue.

hard to put down psychological thriller
I just read "The Happy Couple" by Samantha Hayes. It was one of these books that you have a hard time putting down because the author does such a good job of giving just enough information that you want to find out happens. The story centers around Jo, a young woman whose husband, Will just disappears without explanation. It has been a year and Jo decides to house sit a place that she sees online that may or may not have a clue as to where her husband has disappeared. What follows is an interesting journey to the truth. There is alot of internal dialogue in Jo's head which makes the reading a little confusing, and at times I wondered if Will was a figment of her imagination. I honeslty didn't know the truth until the very end. I enjoyed this book. The characters were layered and interesting and I was hooked into finding out the truth. The ending was the best I've read in a while. Truly satisfying and worth the read. I loved it. It explained everything and it all made sense. I love reading books where everything comes together at the end, with a few surprises I didn't see coming. Highly recommend to lovers of this genre, and I will definately read more from this author in the future

A GRIPPING & INTENSE READ!!
Boy oh boy!!! What an unputdownable novel!! Every word kept me reading well into the night!!! Samantha Hayes did a terrific job keeping me interested in the plot. There were no dead spots in her writing. I wasn’t bored at all! Some novels I’ve read have had weak spots that had me bored & impatient to get to the point. So I’d skim the boring parts to get to more interesting parts. Not in this book! Every page was exciting & suspensful. The characters were intriguing & believable. The character of Jo provided a lot of food for thought. She really irritated me. She was so stupid that she issed me off. She had a whole other life in her head. She ignored the reality of her life & escaped into this crazy dream world of her own device. She’d be interacting with friends & not hear a word they said. Instead she’d be having interactions with people who weren’t there. She’d speak aloud to her imaginary friends. The “real” people who were with her didn’t know what on earth she was talking about, as her imaginary dialog had no connection to what was happening around her. The way she whined about her missing husband (after 1 year) was very irritating. The guy disappeared with no word to Jo before & after his vanishing act. It seems to me she should have figured it out in a year’s time & realized he didn’t want her any more. But, no, not Jo!! She spent her days pining over her missing husband. She refused to find another man to date. She would rather honor his memory & remain celebate. She was upset when she kissed Simon!! What a twit!! She spent her days in an imaginary reality interacting with people who were’t there. She wasn’t living her best life, or any kind of life at all. She couldn’t afford to live in her home, but didn’t want to sell it, because Will wouldn’t be able to find her when he came home. She was also living in her past, reliving the days when she & Will were together. She lived a half life. It bothered me that she chose this life. She could have lived a full & dynamic life. But she chose a life of misery & delusional hope. I felt like punching her in the face to wake her up. Stupid, stupid woman!!Jo also saw Will wherever she went. She would see his shade looking at her with various expressions on his face. He would nod his head or shake his head. He’d look angry or sad or resigned as he gazed at her. He’d also talk to her or answer her questions. This is not the behavior of a rational woman.Jo also had delusional memories of her time with Will. Oh, he’s gentle & loving!! Oh, he treated her so well! He was such a tender & loving man! He loved being with her! And blah, blah, blah... By the end of the novel, the real Will is revealed. He turned out to be a lying, nasty, philandering POS. Finally, Jo awakens from her lifelong trance!! She realizes she’d been a stupid twit—finally!!Even though Jo irritated the heck out of me because she was a jackass, I loved this novel. Jo wasn’t a bad person, just an idiot & a fool. I kept waiting for her to wake up & bloom. Which she at last did. This is the first novel I’ve read by Samantha Hayes, & I liked it so much I’ve got her other 5 novels. I plan on reading one of them next.Terrific novel! I recommend it to those readers who enjoy women’s fiction, suspense & psychological drama.
