Quality Micrometer! Made in Japan!
Yes, it is made in Japan! I know a few reviews say theirs were made in Brazil, but not mine! Maybe there was a time when they might have been? I didn't see anyone post any picture showing theirs made in Brazil, so who knows.. I do know that the Japanese have fine craftsmanship and when I can't find the item I want with the good ol "Made in the USA" on it, I look for the next best "Made in Japan". Not saying Japan is second rate or anything. As an American, I have the utmost respect for the Japanese people and their country. I just prefer to support my homeland. But when I can't because we've outsourced every other thing to mostly China, I can count on Japan to feed my need. You can just feel the quality of this micrometer in your hands. The certificate even named some of the workers over there in their facitlity. So professional. ๐ค Fully opened it up and closed it. It zerod out as should. Used it to measure some plumbing to figure out what size shutoff valves to buy. Measured perfectly. Closed it back up and it wasn't zerod. I opened it back up and cleaned the jaws because my copper pipes have a bit of corrosion. That did the trick. It zerod back out. The hint of corrosion left on the jaws measured about 0.003 lol. Also a heads up! The paper in the plastic bag with the micrometer is poisonous! It's meant to keep corrosion away while it's packaged. There is a warning in the box about it. Just throw it away, wipe your micrometer with some rubbing alcohol, and wash your hands.

High quality Japanese perfection
Might be a little biased, but Japan definitely makes some of, if not, the best quality precision measuring instruments. Used this for work and I got nothing bad to say. Haven't been a machinist for a bit so I just use it for my gunsmithing hobby now. -strong, high quality Japanese stainless steel means it won't be beaten up from proper use. -easy to read, very clear glass, makes it easy and quick to make precise measurements. - Price is more than fair for the quality, and if you use it for work, it will pay for itself.

Accurate and Repeatable
The dial readout is very crisp and easy to read; it is marked for every 0.001" (one thousandths). It is easy to interpolate by eye to 0.0005" (five ten thousandths) and probably to 0.00025" (25 one hundred thousandths). I am very pleased and used these to identify a ten thousandths error in a recently purchased replacement part. I love the dial readout. It is much easier to read than a vernier scale. I prefer the dial to electronic readout since there is no battery to go dead while the tool sits in my tool drawer. This is the perfect choice for users that only occasionally make measurements with this level of precision. Be sure to read and follow the card in the plastic envelope: wipe the calipers down with a lightly oiled rag to remove the shipping preservative. It will slide much more smoothly that way. Just buy it! The quality is a joy to use.

Great caliper, super repeatable. Case has no foam.
As expected of Mitutoyo, a high quality, very precise instrument. Super repeatable; that first image is after running it out to 6", back and forth a couple times, and then back to zero. Seems like it has no backlash at all. What more could you ask for from a caliper? No word yet on durability, I'll update the review if it develops issues after a while. No news is good news. I bought this as a replacement for my cheap digital caliper, which measured fine, except every time I wanted to use it, the battery was dead. Back to analog. One thing to note is that the case does not come with any foam. While the dial does say "shockproof", I take that with a grain of salt. I modified the case with some 3M UHB double sided foamy tape stuff and it brings me peace of mind. One other reviewer mentioned this and padded his own case. It also does not have a barrel hinge, and instead just a thin piece of plastic. I would imagine after opening and closing it ten thousand times, it would cold work the plastic until it broke, like bending a paper clip back and forth until it breaks in half. Maybe they use magic plastic that won't work harden, what do I know.

Canโt go wrong with anything Mitutoyo
Mitutoyo is a leader in highly accurate, tough, and well designed measuring equipment. Ask any machinist/inspector in the industry and theyโll all agree Mitutoyo is top shelf quality. I have used Mitutoyo and Starrett and find both to be of equal quality.

These are nice. And a good buy for the money!
I think these are great for the money! And the ones that I got say made in Japan right on them not Brazil. Maybe Mitutoyo has other countries make some of their stuff but mine say Japan right on them.

Worth your hard-earned money.
Absolutely worth every penny of your hard-earned money. This thing is great it is built to last and will certainly pay for itself. This is my first set of good dial calipers and I am very impressed and will never waste my money on cheap tools again. The package arrived on time in good condition not a scratch on the calipers. Zeroed immediately and repeated every time I opened and close the Jaws. Fit and finish are excellent and flawless. Super smooth easy to read just great. Passed inspection and calibration at the shop flawlessly. Will get lots of use out of these.

I prefer this over digital.
Mitutoyo, never disappoints. Fit and finish is very nice. Gets used at least a few times weekly. Was tired of replacing digital calipers that always seemed to fail yearly (not Mitutoyo). Itโs quite nice not having to stress if it measures accurately, because you know it does.

Dial vernier. Mitutoyo
Itโs a masterpiece of measuring equipment. Well designed, sturdy and easy to read. No need to worry about the battery going low. And worrying about improper readings.
