Read the whole review. It says everything I feel. If my opinion is truly called, u shouldn't need to hear that my whole opinion
Like that it came fast, and I love that it works really well. The torch is great at what it was advertised to do, but I absolutely hate that they didn't tell me it needed special (ultra refined) butane gas before I bought it. Id hav probably bought a cheaper torch and butane at the same time had I known my regular butane wasn't going to cut it. I didn't even known they had special butane, so that was a little silly. I guess I just started the reason why they don't tell u b4 u buy it, cuz they stands a chance of losing someone as a customer that's already interested in their product out of thousands of other vendors. They could also give a small complimentary can of that with their torch.

Good value, good seller
After reading several reviews of this and other torches (and my experience with my current kitchen torch), I settled on this one. It was securely packaged and it arrived as promised. I filled it with Ronson fluid and gave it a try.It really is a nice torch, with a nozzle twice the width of my old one. It took a few tries to get it to light (it probably needed to be primed a bit) and then wow! It has a nice whoosh and a very strong blue flame, easily adjustable in both heat and length. I've used it to caramelize various sugars and amp up the color of some roasted sweet potatoes. It bubbles cheese very easily. It is a good value, and has better aesthetics than a butane can with a torch on top!

It's a good torch for a home chef
First off, I'm not a professional chef nor do I write reviews for extra income. I ordered this torch as an adjunct to my recently purchased Sansaire Sous Vide machine. The best protein cooked in it still look rather anemic. And while the taste and texture are tremendous I wanted that deep, rich searing to go along with the rest. So, that brings me to "The Torch". After reading multiple reviews on multiple products I settled on the Keen Smart model. I purchased via Amazon Prime and received my torch well packaged, in two days.Once I opened it and read all the instructions I filled it with butane (not included) and proceeded to "play around" with it a bit as I had noting cooked to actually sear. The unit fits nicely in my smallish hands and is easily grasped and securely held. The checkering on the sides insure a good grip I suspect even if your hands are a bit wet or even greasy. The safety switch is easily accessed on the rear of the unit and although it is rather small, I had no problems with it. The igniter, immediately above the safety switch is much larger and easier to use. Now, the reason I only gave it four stars versus five; it did not and does not ignit first time, every time like I was led to believe. And the ring lies the rub. You have to reset the safety switch every time you attempt to light the torch. I get why. It makes sense. But it's a pain when the thing doesn't light to have to reset it. Most times it lights on the second or third attempt. The flame adjustment, located adjacent to the nozzle of the torch is ambidextrous. A nice feature for south paws. In fact, all controls are ambidextrous. But the flame control isn't adjustable "on the fly" or at least I haven't figured out how to do so myself. So if you're want g a lazy, little flame, you'd better figure that out before lighting it up.So far I've actually used it to sear several steaks and a three pound flat brisket. It performed admirably. I haven't had to refill it yet so the tank is a decent size.I'd prefer if the flame were larger and wider, but then what guy wouldn't?All in all its a pretty decent product and since it's used only occasionally and not in a professional kitchen it's ideal for me. The removable stand holds the unit nice and safe on the counter and its small size versus a large propane/butane Bernzomatic torch is great for a home chef.

Good for more than just cooking!
The the torch works great. I haven't got into the culinary side just yet, but it did come in handy for lighting fireworks at a party next to a river. I needed something that would do much better than those cheap "Walmart" long stem lighters and this product surpassed my expectations. The torch even lit when the wind picked up, no problem :) I also used it to start the bonfire that night, and my charcoal grill the following Monday. The fit and finish is good quality, and I like the weight of the torch my hand. I do feel future versions of this model could benefit from a butane level indicator, but that's no biggie for this review.Great product, great buy!

DOA, but great customer service
Arrived DOA. It's a major hassle to fill, and no window to show the level of the butane. I could cope with that, but it wouldn't light, no spark at all. The button depressed, I got the click, I was following instructions. I know it had fuel, I could hear it hissing, but nada for a flame. Returning it, will try another brand. I bought this at the recommendation of the chef steps website, very disappointed.EDIT: Keen contacted me after I returned the torch, apologized for the inconvenience, and offered a new unit, no charge. That's customer service.

this one is great. It's easy lighting
I've had this a week, because it actualy arrived a day earlier than it should have. Though I'd looked at others in the stores recently, this one is great. It's easy lighting, has a nice grip feel and a nice wide base so it doesn't tip over. Even looks nice sitting on my counter ! I have lots of grandkids, so the lock safety feature is a real plus. Great for meringues, quick browning of casserole and dessert toppings, marshmellow smores for the grand kids, and I can't wait to find out what all. I have a baker/caterer daughter who I'm sure would love this. Would highly reccommend it to others and buy it for gifts.
