Good quality DVDGreat film too if you were into the Apollo space missions and want to take a trip down memory lane

The story of the aborted mission to walk on the moon once more in 1970. Some heart stopping scenes and showed the fickle nature of the public, no one was interested in the mission until it was thought the astronauts were going to die. Tom Hanks always reliable to bring a story to life.

Arrived speedily and in good condition as described, enjoyed the film.

I am weird in that I don't watch many movies but I do like watching classic movies! Apollo 13 is one of those must-watch classics like Star Wars original trilogy, Crocodile Dundee, Jurassic Park, etc. My 11 year old son and I watched this for the first time in 2020 but I was only finally persuaded by the insistence of my line manager (I work in nuclear power station operations) that he had watched it multiple times and quoted the archetypal briefing style of Gene Krantz in training sessions. So, watch it but study it if you work in aviation as flight crew or air traffic control, nuclear plant operations or military command and control sectors. Fantastic, timeless movie of true heroism in the face of danger and failure.

An exciting, nail-biting and exhilarating doomed trip to the moon and back with director Ron Howard in the pilot's seat and a very able cast to help see it through. An unforgettable ride with many scenes filmed at 20 second bursts on NASAs 'Vomit Comet' where real zero gravity was achieved. Tear-jerking and triumphant, never dull and sprinkled with humour. For me the brilliant Kathleen Quinlan steals the show, however; from her famous husband's shadow she emerges as vulnerable, strong and determined (". . .if they have a problem with that they can take it up with my husband; he'll be back on Friday.") Absolute 10 out of 10.
