Irwin Tools 52490 Spiral Flute Screw Extractors, 9 Piece Set

Utilizing this tool I was able to remove a broken threaded pipe nipple from my water pump. The item was heavily rusted and I thought I would never get it removed. I honestly thought I was going to need to replace the entire pump (or at least the pump head) in order to get our well water system working again. However, This tool bit into the damaged pipe nipple and with some break free lubricate the broken nipple unscrewed. I was ecstatic!! I would recommend this tool to any plumber or "DIY" semi-professional person that deals with mild steel, cast iron or other types of threaded pipe. This product performed as stated and is quality made in the USA.

Seems like a pretty solid set. As with any of these products you have to be slow and careful with your application. Unfortunately the sizing of these was just off for me. One size fit my hole but was just barely fit the tip; the next size down doesn't bite at all. Seems like a good product and I'll keep it around because it's a wonderful thing to have on hand though.

Bought this to EZ out a stripped brass screw in a carb, the tap immediatly broke with mild pressure on brass.

they say irwin hanson but the actual quality of the metal seems more like HF. had the number 2 and 3 flutes shear off with very little pressure and im sure that the number one will to. the holes in the wood stand are very sloppy and extractors dont stand up near like that in picture. over all its a decent purchase as i really wanted the larger size ones witch have held up a little better.

Holy crap! Mine came with a carry case! Woo Hoo!!! Great quality. The case is perfect! Even the small extracts do not come out of place.

These were a gift for my dad as he broke one while helping me with a busted screw. This set has pieces that are WAY too big which he will never use. What he really needed was a set of smaller pieces. They may be super strong, but they are much bigger than what the average household/garage will ever need.

The first extractor I used snapped off under mild torque, leaving me with a far worse problem than I started with. I notice that other reviewers have had the same experience, so this is not an anomaly. I contacted Irwin Customer Service, and received an email suggesting that I "use left hand high cobalt drill bits to drill everything out".

Contrary to what's protrayed in the picture, this set comes with a finished pine storage block. It is a 9 pice set. You'll never be screwed when a fastner breaks on you! This set covers all sizes! Excellent quality!
